Summary
Mandy had promised to take them to a hero bar under the assumption that no one would mind, really. The Z-team were heroes, they deserved it! It wasn't their fault that some superheroes are dicks, or that Robert was a magnet for fights. Sequel oneshot to Just Some Team Building.

Some of the missing time between Robert going down in the villain bar and Blonde Blazer coming through that door. Shroud gives the Red Ring crew ten minutes to do what they want with Mecha Man before the real interrogation starts. It gets pretty fucking ugly. Robert is kind of twitchy and the Z-Team is, you know, a gaggle of morally compromised fucknuggets. As the team starts to get a little too comfortable play-razing their new dispatcher, someone takes a prank too far and gets an uncomfortable snapshot into what superhero PTSD looks like. Summary
After Shroud’s defeat and capture by Robert Robertson III, he’s reinstated as a Dispatcher, operating under the supervision of Blonde Blazer. The days of Mecha Man are mostly behind him as he only suits up when the mission demands it. He and Invisigal have formed a close friendship, and maybe more. Together, they navigate a fragile peace that feels one bad call away from collapse.
Meanwhile, the Superhero Dispatch Network finally tracks down Bigby Wolfe, an infamous ex-detective turned fugitive werewolf. Instead of prison, they offer him a deal: work for the Z Team under Robertson’s command in California. Bitter, tired, and out of options, Bigby accepts. But as new threats rise and SDN fractures from within, the lines between man and monster begin to blur.

Summary
The Phoenix symbolizes renewal, rebirth, and resurrection, emerging from the ashes of its own fiery death to be reborn anew.
This is what Robert Robertson the Third tried to see himself as: A Phoenix. After losing his identity and job as Mecha-Man, he has a chance to reemerge as Dispatcher of the notorious Z-Team, a group of dangerous criminals given a shot at being heroes.
And, while everyone else regards the Z-Team as a dumpster fire, a nuclear bomb just waiting to be set off, Robert sees something else—he sees pain, understanding, and above all, an intent to be better. He sees people who had always drawn the short stick, who bet on losing cards, and who were always regarded as less.
What Robert sees... is a group of Phoenixes.
And he'll be damned if he won't stick by every one of them, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
tldr:
Robert is highly emotionally aware and fiercely protective, refusing to give up on anyone in the Z-team, even when the stakes are high and tension is rising. They're all a bunch of fuckin' idiots, as Chase would say, but they're undoubtedly his idiots, through and through. Blonde Blazer, oddly enough, supports this change of pace.Bookmarked by HybridUnity

Summary
The last thing she sees before the roof begins to cave in is a blur of blue accompanied by the sound of metal ringing under impact. Her eyes are squeezed shut as she cowers with her arms instinctively over her head, still holding her breath until the pressure in her chest forces her to exhale. An eternity passes though, before she finally opens her eyes and looks up to see the force that stopped her from being crushed flat in an inferno, debris on his back.
In all honesty, she’d rather the fire had taken her as a victim. But it didn’t.
She squints her eyes, knowing he can see her from inside the suit now. Finally, after what seems like eons, she musters the only thing she can. “How the fuck did you see me?”
“Heat sensors,” he says, augmented voice deadpan and robotic, but still so recognizable—at least to Courtney. “I’m not exactly interested in rebuilding my suit from scratch again.”
Well, fuck.
—
It’s been seven months since Robert and Mandy told the Z-Team they were dating, six months since Courtney left SDN, and five and twenty three days since Robert and Courtney last spoke.
Or, the Blonde Blazer romance route is still somehow an Invisigal romance route.
