Remus Lupin knew nothing but his name.
He suddenly woke up to find himself in a cramped, dark box- only to be pulled into a place called the Glade. Somewhere where people around his age had lived for three years, with no memories, no nothing.
All they knew were their names.
On the first day of each month, a new kid is sent up in the Box. It’s been this way for as long as anyone can remember, and it never changes. It never strays. Everybody has their roles, everybody has their rules; it’s never broken, never any different.
So, no one knows what to do when a week after Remus arrives, another gets sent up. A boy. And all that they can understand is the note in his hand.
He’s the last one. Ever.
The Glade is surrounded by four walls. Outside these walls is a giant, unsolvable maze. No one knows why it’s there, or who put it there. And the one, most important rule set by the Keepers is: never, ever go into the Maze.
Remus doesn’t listen. And he doesn’t know if that was the best decision of his life, or the worst.

Remus's best friend was Sirius's little brother (that had always added a fun twist).
Sirius knew certain... things about Remus. Things no one else knew.But none of that had mattered during their first year. They didn't care about their houses, Remus didn't know Regulus yet, and Sirius didn't know any of Remus's secrets.
It wasn't like that anymore, Remus wouldn't even call them friends anymore. It didn't stop one last complication however.
Remus had eyes, after all.

Regulus Black is not a hateful person, surprising as that may be to some.
He liked to pretend he hated his brother, but that wasn't real.
There was only one person he actually hated, but that was very much justified. Regulus didn't care how nice he seemed, how caring he was towards Sirius, or Remus, or anyone else he came across. Regulus didn't care how funny he was, how charming. He certainly didn't care to notice how his mess of dark hair looked on the quidditch pitch.
He didn't care one bit.
James Potter had stolen his brother, after all.

Regulus's insomnia's been acting up. Between the pressure of the house and being heir and the crushing feeling of abandonment from Sirius leaving him he's starting to crack under the weight. After a particularly bad day, he learns of some 7th years sneaking some firewhiskey from hogsmead in and he buys some off them for far more than its worth, and gets drunk.
He decides to approach Sirius. He isn't exactly sure why he does it. To start a fight, to see Sirius's face, to yell at Sirius, to yell at James, he doesn't know.
But he does.
Everything is loud any everyone is so so angry and something already cracking at the edges shatters and he has his wand to his head and he's sobbing and he knows without a doubt that he wants to die.But his wand is torn from his hand by a frantic Expellimarius, and Sirius crushes him into a hug.
Obligatory fuck jk, trans rights are human rights.
