The ED team shuffles out, Whitaker and Dr. Robby taking up the rear. Dr. Robby stops him with a hand on Whitaker’s waist, there and gone. “Really,” he says low, directly into his ear, beard scratching his cartilage, “that was amazing. You didn’t waste any time starting compressions. That probably saved that baby’s life. You saved that baby’s life.”
The praise goes to his head, suffusing him with endorphins. “Thank you, Dad.” And he promptly wants to crawl out of his skin and slither down the drain with the after birth slop.

……在這個時候他聽見Eki短促地笑了一下：「失望嗎？」
Vox整個身體都繃緊了。他聽見被子窸窸窣窣地響起來，一雙手從背後環住他的腰，Eki伏在他的肩膀上，呼吸擾動了他的頭髮。他的手腕被溫柔地握住……Vox的拳頭慢慢也鬆開了。
「我大概在……害怕。」Eki輕聲說。
他跪了起來，向前湊得更近，甚至他的嘴唇輕柔地蹭過Vox的耳廓。 Vox聽見一種強自忍耐的微弱呼吸；與此同時，Eki的手一路向下滑到Vox的陰莖上，他的聲音非常輕，也非常啞。
「……害怕它插進來我就壞了。」

“Do you want my attention?” A simple question, plainly asked.
“Yes, please.” A small clearing of the throat, as though Ike would be disappointed at the haste with which Vox lets words fall from between his lips. “Of course I do.”
It’s easy, like this. (What difficulty is there, when you and your lover are this close?)
Ike strides to the edge of the bed, guiding Vox’s legs towards him and pushing them gently apart. The fabric of Vox’s skirt is no longer pleated in places, stretching to accommodate the movement.
Skin burning with anticipation, throat burning with impatience as it closes around unspoken syllables—ones that simply don’t need to be said. There is no, “Come on and do this, slut,” to be said—not by Ike, at least, and not by Vox. Neither needs to be commanded, and Ike does not need to do anything but kneel on the floor for Vox to realize how he should act. How he should follow.
