Vivi freezes. She grips Luffy’s hand so tight the rubber contorts, and he whips his head around, yelling, “What the! Who’s there!”
A small flame flickers from across the room. It illuminates the face of a man neither of them noticed before, crossing the distance towards them. Vivi flattens herself against Luffy’s back. Something in her screams danger danger danger at the stranger’s approach.
Or: a princess, a pirate, and a surgeon walk into a tomb.
Or, or: Vivi and Luffy meet Trafalgar Law in Alabasta.

Summary
All of these thoughts fly out of Sanji’s head when Zoro opens his mouth and asks, “Who are the Vinsmokes?”
Glass shatters at his feet. The room goes deathly silent.
Sanji hardly notices, rooted in place with frozen shock and trying to process the question in a way that makes sense. His disbelieving gaze is riveted on Zoro’s face, and Zoro stares back steadily, revealing nothing. “Where,” Sanji says, slowly, quietly, his voice cutting through the stillness like a blade, “did you hear that name?”
Zou isn't the first time the Strawhats hear of the Vinsmokes. Because apparently Sanji can't keep his mouth shut when he's drugged, sick, and delirious with fever.
Or: Sanji has a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But it's okay, because his family is always there for him.

Summary
An infected injury is arguably even less enjoyable, and yet, when Law peels back his bandages to change them, the smell alone is enough to force him to confront the uncomfortable reality that, yes, he’s developed a nasty infection in one particular stab wound. Wonderful.
It’s not too bad, considering. It’ll heal on its own if he keeps it clean and steals some antibiotics from Chopper’s supplies. Nothing to worry about, and certainly not something he needs to tell anybody else about.

“sabo! luffy!”
ace’s yell fills sabo with an incomprehensible kind of dread-excitement, the kind he only gets when one of his brothers (or him) is doing something monumentally stupid. luffy seems to only feel excitement, practically bursting out the door to meet ace—and trafalgar law?—right outside. both are visibly drunk, leaning on each other heavily. law is smiling, faint and oddly warm. ace has the biggest grin on his face.
sabo sighs, looking over them fondly. “what did you two do?”
“we need saké,” ace declares, “and cups. four cups. vow renewal!”(trafalgar law is free. he is also dragged into a new family, mostly willingly.)

After the newspapers announced the Straw Hat Pirates had been eliminated--save one cabin boy, fourteen year old Portgas D. Ace, who was being remanded to protective custody in Marineford--Trafalgar Law decides to do something crazy. In one world, this put him in just the right position to serve as a timely escape. In this one, it got him an angry, grieving gremlin. Law is tired, Ace has come up swinging, and the Hearts are just delighted.
“I’ve got better things to do than lie to a cabin boy. And you’re not going to take me in a fight, so you might as well take a minute and calm down and listen to me.”
Ace bares his teeth at this idiot. “Shut up! You don’t know anything!”

Summary
Sanji tries to imagine Yonji carrying anything for him at all just to be nice. The daydream falls apart instantly, because Yonji only ever took things from Sanji to break them.
“Do you promise you’ll give it back?” he musters the courage to ask, clinging to the cookbook a kind old woman just sold him, unwilling to let it go without making sure. She had smiled and said she was certain her family’s recipes would be in good hands with him and Sanji doesn’t want to prove her wrong before he gets a chance to even try. “You have to promise.”
Zoro gazes down at him with that inscrutable look on his face he’s worn all day. He could probably take the book from Sanji pretty easily but he doesn’t yank it away or twist his wrist until he lets go. They just stand there, sizing each other up. Sanji’s nerves mount with every second but he doesn’t back down.
Yonji would have hurt him already and laughed about it. The first mate of the Strawhat crew simply says, after enough time that Sanji knows he’s taken it seriously, “Promise.”
