Summary
“Six thousand years. A sudden storm, a canopy, and a pair of wide blue eyes looking back at me.” He let out a tortured hiss.
The first bottle was now empty, yet only reflecting his own emptiness back at him. He procured another. Perhaps a particularly good red was needed.
Settling back near the desk, he threw one leg over the arm of the chair, while the other stretched out in front of him, taking up far more room than his lanky frame would indicate was possible. Long drinks were taken from the bottle and he was accosted by the memories, while Crowley choked back the emotions that threatened to spill out.
“I gave it away.”
“Let me tempt you…”
“That’s what… friends… are for.”
“I knew you would come through for me. You always do.”
“Oh Crowley, nothing lasts forever.”He had made it through the first half of the bottle when he heard keys rattling in the door.
“And here comes the scrivener,” he sighed. He wasn’t sure if he should be there, but wasn’t in the mood to do anything but remain where he was.

Crowley was still as stone beside him. His ears were cherry-red. “So...if we pretend we’re in a relationship, we’ll be safe.”

“And that would, that would involve, what?” he spoke hesitantly, softly. “Holding your hand, telling you that you mean a lot to me, kissing you for them to see?”
Two great hands were constricting Aziraphale’s lungs. He fought back an undignified wheeze. “Yes, I think so.”
“I can do that,” he croaked.

In a panic, Aziraphale tells the archangels he survived hellfire due to his soul mixing with Crowley's because they're in a romantic and sexual relationship. They want him to prove it. Cue a fake relationship.Series

Summary

As he and Crowley develop their friendship, it's impossible for him to escape his growing feelings.
When Crowley finds himself persuaded by his half-sister to meet Aziraphale, he doesn’t expect to form a close friendship. As his emotions become involved, he wonders whether Aziraphale would be interested in more.

“So.” The stranger’s back straightened, turning his entire body towards Aziraphale. “What’s your deal?”
“My… deal?”
“Your deal,” he repeated. “You say you know blind dates all too well and yet you choose fifth wheeling over finding someone to bring along.”
“It’s not for lack of trying,” Aziraphale objected, voice too frail to be convincing.
The red-head tilted his half-drunk whisky with a nod. “Which brings us right back to your deal. Wanna know what I think?”
“Oh, please, do enlighten me,” Aziraphale said drily, even as the corner of his mouth twitched. He settled further onto his stool.
“I think you’re a romantic,” he said simply.
