Summary
Kaladin is sworn to protect. She’s a spy sent to betray. And their relationship could save—or break—both of them.
Kara has always walked between worlds: lighteyed noble and Diagram loyalist, spy and scholar, failsafe and free spirit. Sent to Urithiru with vague orders and no backup, she plans to lay low, map the tower, and stay unnoticed. But when she ends up as a scribe for the Windrunners, Kaladin refuses to drop his suspicions, and she can't quite tame her curiosity. Turns out, lying to Bridge Four is more difficult than she anticipated. As suspicions rise and war rages, Kara must navigate dangerous secrets, a stormy Windrunner Captain, and a budding group of Windrunners that makes her wish she could give honest answers for once.
Secrets unravel. Storms gather. And Kara’s past returns. Violently.

This story takes place after Zuko Alone and then functions as an alternate version of The Chase. Toph has just joined the group, Azula is on their trail, and Zuko is far from Iroh’s calming influence.

Despite being in the middle of a war and Jah Keved royalty wanting to wed him, Kaladin finds himself slowly falling for someone else. Unwilling to jeopardise the fragile peace with Jah Keved their romance is instead kept secret.
Unfortunately, Kaladin never really was very good at deception.
When it is finally time to come clean Kaladin discovers he isn’t the only one keeping secrets. Hearing that he has a long-lost family member Kaladin seeks them out to reconnect but only time will tell if this was a blessing or a curse.
