Summary
Izuku wants to be a hero.
No matter what anyone says, his teachers, his classmates, or even Kacchan, he wants to be a hero.
It shouldn't matter that no one thinks he can. It shouldn't matter what people think, or say, because the only thing that matters is if he can, and he's at least going to try. He'll find a way. Even if his quirk is what it is, he'll find a way to be a hero without pushing anyone else down.
...but who has ever heard of a hero who needs to borrow other people's quirks just to fight?

What a fucking asshole.
NOTE: This fic was started a very long time ago, before the majority of the manga and the anime were released. As such, the characters are closer to their season 1 characterizations than they would realistically be, seeing everything else that happens. Soooooo, let's say this is an alternate universe where basically none of the actual plot points have taken place. Cool? Cool.

Izuku has always tried to be strong, to keep faith in his dream, and frankly he shocks himself sometimes at how resilient he is in the face of the constant bullying and degradation that he faces. That doesn't mean that every now and then he isn't fragile, especially when Kacchan tells him to take a leap of faith and All Might tells him he will never be a hero in the same day. Even careless words, after all, have the tendency to impact dreams, even if those dreams are strong enough to change the world.

Izuku Midoriya grew up truly loved by both of his parents, even though his father never gave him a quirk and he wasn't the heir to the Family Business. Desperate to prove his worth, he decided that he would convince his father to allow him to help in the family objective: to reveal the true colors of Hero Society to the world-- one way or another.
But then he meets All Might and his childhood reality starts to fall apart.

Izuku likes being a waiter, really! There's all sorts of people who he can meet -- every hour, he has a new set of tables, a new group of people to meet. They're usually really friendly, too. Especially the regulars. Occasionally, he gets stuck with the mean tables that complain about everything.
Sometimes, he's distracted by the cute customers. And, sometimes, he gets more involved with them than he probably should.
(or: a self-indulgent restaurant AU where Izuku's the poor waiter stuck with the pickiest customer ever, Enji Todoroki: the well-renown medical hero. Izuku's only now learning he has a son: a very, very pretty one.)
