When Kaveh and Alhaitham became a couple, everyone thought they would break up within the month.
…And everyone had been wrong, thank you very much. They survived a full year sharing a home, sharing a life, sharing a cat.
And really, Kaveh should consider one year and three months quite an achievement, given that this was Alhaitham he had been putting up with for all that time, with his absurd idiosyncrasies and infuriating jabs. It should have been obvious from the beginning that Kaveh would never be able to exchange wedding rings with someone with such an impressively awful eye for interior design.
Or: Kaveh breaks up with Alhaitham. But they keep shared custody of the cat.

Summary
This side of Alhaitham — warm, gentle, vulnerable — was concealed from most. Perhaps only Kaveh was privy to just how human Sumeru’s famed “machine-like genius” truly was when stripped of his reticence and silence. In the streets of the city and within the walls of the Akademiya, he was always furtively observing and analysing others while hiding the mechanisms of his own mind; in the intimacy of their home however, he let his emotions and finicky character show through without fear that they would be misinterpreted.
It almost made Kaveh feel like a good person to see Alhaitham at ease with him.
“Come,” Alhaitham called, pulling gently on his hand. “I’ll show you how beautiful you are.”
Or: Kaveh hates his reflection in the mirror. Alhaitham demonstrates just how much he disagrees with that opinion.

Summary
After almost two months of dating, Kaveh finally gets to suck Alhaitham off—and after waiting for so long, he’s determined to show Alhaitham just how much the two of them have been missing out on.
“I’m curious as to why you’re still kissing my face,” Alhaitham says, “when supposedly your mouth is being magnetically pulled between my legs.”
“Wait,” Kaveh says, eyes widening. “So can I, then? Suck you off?”
Alhaitham cocks an eyebrow. “Only if you make sure that I come. You’re preventing me from reading, which is how I normally wind down before going to bed. I’ll require at least one orgasm to ensure that I sleep soundly.”

Summary
Kaveh paused. The soft, calming voice coming through the speakers drifted into his ears like a soothing ripple of nostalgia that simultaneously brought him relief and alarmed shock. It was familiar with its gentle, low cadence, and seemed to plunge him into a well of memories he had managed to avoid falling into for longer than he could count.
Or: five years after their breakup, Kaveh finds out that Alhaitham is working as a radio host, and starts listening.
