Summary
Iruma is human. This means a lot of things for him, being the odd one out amongst the demons around him. He doesn't have horns, fangs, or a tail- but it's easy enough to dodge questions about those. Maybe it's unusual to be missing all three, but there's a large variety amongst demons. What's harder to explain away is his lack of wings, which he had been doing so well at hiding...
Except- humans are mythical creatures, to demons; so when Iruma's missing wing roots are discovered, that's not the first thing on anyone's mind. There is, in fact, a reason that a demon might be missing their wings. A horrible, horrible reason.
Never before had Iruma been grateful to have his scars.

Summary
Predator instincts and survival instincts were fickle things.
Survival focused on living, and thriving in impossible conditions and harsh environments where the plants did not grow, the rivers did not flow, the flowers did not bear fruit and all that mattered was being at the top of the food chain.
Because it was rats, just rats all the way down.
Predator focused on eating, satiating the hunger and thirst for food, blood, for violence. All that mattered to the predator, was that their stomach was no longer empty and whatever had threatened it was gone, perhaps in the form of blood and bone on the stained ground or a corpse bleeding out. They weren't picky.
Instincts are instincts.

Summary
Iruma really wished he had just listened to Azz and hadn't entered that classroom, but how was he to know that it could have potentially life-ending consequences?
After Balam drags him to the teacher's lounge in a total panic about him not having any wings, Iruma is completely convinced he's done for. Instead, he has teachers panicking and out for blood at seeing the damage done to his back. It's not like it's that big of a deal, it's just some scars. Then he finds out about grounding and suddenly there is something about his grandpa not filing the permits to buy him and he's stuck living with the teachers?! More specifically, mostly Balam and Kalego until they can figure out who he's going to be adopted by.
Then, to make Iruma's life even more hectic, he finds out there are all these weird dynamics and behaviors that come with them, and he's somehow one of these dynamics and the only omega in an entire class of mostly Alphas?! Yeah, Iruma really wishes he had Just listened.
But on a nicer note, he is pretty sure Kalego doesn't hate him and is just a grouchy crypted.

All Iruma wants is to be loved, it is something to aim for a target forever out of reach, the price tag far too high. Can someone change that and help him to find worth in himself and teach him that love is given and earned not bought and lofted over you like a noose forever tightening to keep you firmly under someone else's control.

"I will not bow down to you. Besides after tonight, you will be someone's problem to deal with." The being let out a little laugh as Kalego eyebrow twitched at the sound.
"ah!"
"How dare you mock me! Don't forget who I am!"
"Um...Kalego-kun, you do realize Iruma doesn't understand a thing you are saying? I am surprised at how he isn't afraid of us," Balam-sensei holds a strange object as it rattles to the baby who cries in awe.
"How did I ever get put in charge of this?" Ignoring the infant who plays with Balam-sensei as he plays with him carefully.

Balam Shichiro, as scary and unapproachable as he seemed, had a very peculiar soft spot- children. The black alley doctor kept the kids of the Kararagi safe from the backstage, never asking for anything in return. Just knowing they're safe was enough.
The parents of one peculiar boy, however, misinterpreted the rumors surrounding him - and trough sheer stupidity deducted he'd be the most willing person out of the whole Kararagi to buy their son.
