Takemichi would think that her friends - who all have impeccable instincts and street smarts that have saved not only their lives but her own life a hundred times over - would also have, at the very least, a few cognitive thinking functions left in their punchable brains.
Mikey gets above average marks on all his assignments despite skipping out on more than 75% of all his classes and sleeping through the days he does decide to show up. Draken may hate reading novels and couldn’t point out where New Zealand is on a map, but Takemichi knows from experience that the older boy is an absolute math genius.
Takemichi could drone on and on about Mitsuya and his perfect scores, or Chifuyu’s beautifully written papers that get paraded as the class standard, but it wouldn’t change the fact that no matter how intelligent she may have thought her friends were, she would be completely off the mark by at least one continent and a big, blue ocean.
Because they’re all stupid.

Summary
The evil has many faces. There are people who have their wrongdoings painted across their features - one look, and you know they are not to be trusted. Sometimes it’s in their eyes, sometimes in the way they smile. Small things that give their true, monstrous nature away.
But Hermione was certain of one thing - you could not transform a monster back into a human. Muggles knew it well - it wasn’t the human who turned the vampire back into a mortal. It went the other way around and no amount of prayers could change that. The most probable outcome of such foolish sentiments was either death, or the human becoming a monster himself.

Twenty-two years have passed, since the darkest wizard of all times has been put into custody and the Wizarding England finally has time to rest. But when political situation gets steamy again and the old enemies are on the loose, Hermione finds her carefully crafted world crumbling into pieces.
