Aware of the full moon coming Ren tells the members of the Red Army to take a break, have the night off. He sends Martyn on a quest to get him away from Dogwarts. His right hand man who would die for him- kill him. Worried about the safety of their home, Martyn questions Ren on why he was leaving them unguarded. Upset and confused when he's assigned the task of mining throughout the night. For diamonds. Which they didn't need. The human doesn't want to leave his king but loyal to the end, he accepts.
Usually the man would follow any order Ren gave him. This one was too silly to take seriously. There were better ways to pass the time until the sun returned. So instead of digging a tunnel, Martyn makes his way to the desert to spy on those ‘dirty sand hippies’. He doesn't make it far before he's attacked by a werewolf on the way. One that has it's sight on him specifically. One that lusts for more than just Martyn's blood.

Their deaths are painful. In isolation, far from each other. Grian dies underground in a dark cave that should have been a tunnel. Scar's body rests by his noble stead on a hill under the moonlight.
Scar, still upset with Grian's hypocrisy, hopes that he'll have better teammates this time. He opens his eyes to a circle of friends & future foes. Like every game starts.. But Grian's reading of the rules haven't changed. A familiar invisible string pulls him across the opening of the woods. Right where he died last night.
(Essentially a little retelling of their final deaths with a time loop)

Jimmy overhears a fight at The Red Velvet Keep. Unable to stop himself from listening in on the conversation, he learns one of the two residents is cheating on the other. With lives and souls being linked this round it's hard to believe anyone would do something so heartless. Especially since their history is well known to be ‘romantic’. But the blame game becomes heated. As Scar and Grian argue, Jimmy isn't sure who it is:
Scar, like Tango, BigB, and Grian seem to be accusing.

In part 2 of the Red Names & Love Games (RN&LG) series:
Just before Scar goes to collect wood and Grian to work on their base in the meantime, the two of them argue. Grian points out that Scar also keeps his secrets. How a couple nights prior, he felt hands roam all over him, like he was having sex with a ghost. Scar didn't explain when Grian had questioned him the next morning. Unbeknownst to them, a certain unlucky someone was eavesdropping.

Being with BigB is refreshing. Being with Scar is suffocating. Grian knows it's only a matter of time before people find out about the affair. That's the least of his worries. Going home, he runs into Scar who is elated they're finally in the same place. When his partner asks him for lunch, Grian declines. Much to Scar's disappointment. He doesn’t take it well. Not at all.
Grian hiding from others isn't nearly as scary as his soulbound.

In the story of the Red Names & Love Games (RN&LG) series:
Etho is jealous of Scar being soulmates with the love of his life, Grian. Upset that he wasn't paired with his love from the previous game, Last Life, to Bdubs. Having Joel as his soulbound is nice but Joel is still loyal to Lizzie, even if she's not present this round. Leaving Etho very lonely. Being on red, Etho visits Bdubs in hopes of rekindling their relationship. Seeing as he only has one life remaining and wants to spend it with the man he he truly wants to be with. However it doesn't go well. As Bdubs is happy with Impulse. Wonder why Etho agreed to Joel's plan to test the phantom limb theory? Curious how Etho handles the rejection from Bdubs due to his link with someone else?

Summary

Summary
Grian thought after 3rd Life this wouldn't happen again, and he made it firm that during Last Life he was done. Yet the universe just loves to make him fall into bad habits again. Warnings fall on deaf ears, people just find it funny he's paired with clumsily Scar.
Reality is Grian is caught again by the eyes that hide their true nature. And gosh does he hate he's drawn to them.

Summary
“Need a ride?” The man asks, voice melodic and musical, just like everything else in this hellish field.
Grian’s initial relief at salvation is replaced by unease. The mans energy and personality is so perfect it’s disquieting. His existence is oxymoronic; someone who appears like an angel but looks at him like the devil.
Or, more so like a coyote in between the rows of corn, stalking its prey and luring them into a false sense of safety. Grian brushes that thought off.
The lack of sleep must be getting to him more than he thought.

OR: a midwestern gothic inspired short story about Grian meeting a strange man named Scar on the side of the road, who might not be entirely human..

“You’re acting weird.” Scar muttered.
Grian shook his head slightly, “I’m not.”
Everything else was weird. His friends, memories, conversations— all strange in an indescribable way. It was logically the same but… he didn’t feel like it was.
“Well, I’m worried about you,” Scar said with a bit more force, as if trying to convince them both that his words held meaning. It sounded more frustrated than it should have.
Grian pressed his face into Scar's shoulder. He was met with cold skin and the scent of dirt and earth.
“No,” He replied, voice muffled. “You aren’t.”
