But Silly wasn’t finished.Her gaze swept over them—cold, merciless.
A stunned hush rippled outward.
Then she said it—clear, final, devastating:
“He is the infamous villain…
the World Destroyer: Grian.”
Every Hermit froze.
Scar whispered, “You’re lying.”
Mumbo stepped forward, shaking. “You don’t know him.”
Xisuma’s jaw tightened. “This isn’t Grian.”But Silly only stared back at them, unblinking.
“Then where is he?”
And that was the moment—
the breathless, terrifying moment—
when they all realized:Grian was gone.

But the blame game becomes heated. As Scar and Grian argue, Jimmy isn't sure who it is:

Just before Scar goes to collect wood and Grian to work on their base in the meantime, the two of them argue. Grian points out that Scar also keeps his secrets. How a couple nights prior, he felt hands roam all over him, like he was having sex with a ghost. Scar didn't explain when Grian had questioned him the next morning. “Grian…?” Scar’s raspy morning-timbre rumbles, chest vibrating underneath the avian. Grian curses himself, holding on firmer as the lightest feeling of embarrassment rises.
With a hum, he responds. “Sorry to wake you,” he apologizes, voice barely louder than a whisper. He won’t cry, he’s far from that, but he’s still ashamed.
“A dream?” Scar asks, just as familiar with this routine as Grian. The avian shakes his head against Scar instead of verbally responding, knowing that his words would likely come out broken and shaky. “So a glimpse,” he inquires further, and Grian nods.
OR: Grian goes for a flight. It doesn't end up going as peacefully as he would have hoped.

Grian takes a breath, holds it for four seconds, and breathes out a sob, folding forwards like a collapsing house of cards.
Scar was so still, in his dream, lying in the sand with blood seeping out around him like a halo. His skin was pale, and marred with dark bruises in the shape of Grian’s fingerprints. His partner was left mauled; murdered by cruel, unforgiving hands.
“God,” Grian whispers to himself, between hiccuping breaths, “You need to get over this.”

“Stay still,” the stranger hisses, fighting to capture both of Mumbo's wrists in just one hand.
It takes a moment of struggle, of back-and-forth as both parties refuse to back down, but eventually the stranger manages to pin Mumbo’s arms between their bodies, and he is left defenceless. He can see the shimmer of a potion on the end of their gloved fingertip, and Mumbo shakes in horror as they swipe it behind his pointed ear. Drowsiness quickly begins to flood his system.
"See you when you wake up," they whisper mockingly.
The sight of Grian going limp at the other end of the alley is the last thing that Mumbo sees before the world fades to black.

“Is that what you want though?” Grian pokes his arm, frowning a little.
“…I thought it’s what I wanted. I thought I could be happy with just being her friend. But the more I get to know her, the more I just—I want to stay by her side and make her happy. She’s so wonderful, and she’s been through so many painful things. I want to be there for her and be her safe space.” Scar catches himself rambling, causing his face to turn red. “Ah—I can’t believe I just said all that out loud. Wow! That’s embarrassing…” He brings his hands to his face, hiding it.
Grian can only laugh good-naturedly. “It’s sweet, Scar. She sounds like she means a lot to you. Tell her.”
His face falls into something somber and upset, eyes gloomy as his lips curve downwards. Scar nods, staring down at his lap. “But what if it doesn’t end well? I don’t have the greatest track record either, you know. And I can’t do that to her. I can’t hurt her like that. What if I lose her?”
Everything changes.
