Iris is so angry at Barry that she's not thinking of Barry as her best friend. And so, she realises that perhaps she's always wanted something more from him.

Summary
The second chapter of my rendering of a soulmate!Westallen AU. In reality, it's pretty Iris-focused, it's letting us know where Iris has been, both in her headspace and physically that caused her to get to the point where she is in the first chapter, all whilst Barry's having an emotional breakdown next to her.
'Of course her life felt full! Her soulmate had been there all along. She assumed Barry hadn’t told her because he didn’t want to pressure her into a relationship. It was so like him to stand on the side-lines and wait for her. It wasn't her favourite decision. She didn't like having secrets between them. She’d have liked to know what was coming. She could have had a year of dealing with this thing between them before it came to fruition on her own skin.'

'Iris leaned her hand up, plucking her glove off on the way and stroked it through his hair.
'That was perfect.' she spoke more quietly than she usually did, but the sentiment echoed in his mind.'Iris. I've wanted to do that for so long...' he hesitated out of habit 'I'm so happy that you're here.' he breathed, not quite able to remove his hand from the bare skin where he had rucked up her jacket.'
