Harry needed to be somewhere safe this summer. He had watched Cedric die. Watched Voldemort return. Been tortured. Seen his dead parent return while he duelled the man who murdered his parents. All during a tournament he was forced into and consequently vilified for by his peers and Britain’s wizarding world.
Harry needed to be somewhere where he could be sad and angry and scared and not alone and safe.
Where was safer than Hogwarts?

Hisashi Midoriya was not a good man. He was cruel and uncaring, locking Izuku away in his room. The only reason Izuku went to school in the first place was because he was enrolled before his mother had passed away. She had died when Izuku was 9 years old. Not long after that, Izuku had stopped smiling altogether. His father wasn’t happy with that.
Hisashi took a knife to Izuku’s lips and dragged it up his cheeks

Izuku stepped in quietly, seeing Eraserhead sitting at the Bakugous’ table. Happiness shot through him, glad that the hero had followed his note. He reached his hand up to his face, placing it gently against his chin, the mask in place.He pulled the mask down.

Midoriya Izuku had a quirk. Medically, there was no reason he shouldn't. He only had one joint in his pinkie toes, the doctors confirmed that when he was little. He wasn't technically quirkless. His quirk registry file just said 'unknown'. Any day now, it could manifest. All along, he'd had that hope.
What cruel irony, that it would take him losing all hope to discover the damned thing.
He really had to hand it to Kacchan though. The jerk was dead wrong about him, but he'd gotten one thing right.
Izuku did get a quirk in the next life.
