When Thor refused the throne (his brother chose the worst time to grow wiser), Loki was still delirious in his glee of finally making the biggest, funniest joke in all the realms – the lying Jotun trickster on the throne, and not a soul suspects it!”
Loki didn’t just eat grapes and watched amateur theatre in his dad’s robes for five years. Everything from TR canon is thrown to the wolves, and we have Loki having mental health consequences of his actions in various locations, with some inter-realm politics thrown in, with eventual relocation to the Avengers Tower (in true 2012 fashion) for more angsting and agonising. Hopefully with some friends we found along the way.
Or, Loki having an existential crisis for ~40k words.

Summary
Warrior braids.
It is an old Asgardian tradition. The braids are reserved for the most distinguished warriors, indicating their high status. When they were little, Odin had chastised them for braiding each other’s hair when they played warrior. “You will only receive your braids when you are worthy.”
Loki had long since given up on the idea of ever receiving his braids, but he knew Thor had learnt all the techniques, just in case.
“Do you like them?” Thor asks again, looking at him expectantly, one hand brushing over one of the braids subconsciously.
Loki realises too late he had been staring at his brother for a moment too long before he answers. “No.”
It is not a fair response, and it is a lie, led by the jealousy swirling in his stomach.~~~
In which Thor loses his warrior braids, and Loki deals with the fallout.
Or, author saw Thor freaking out about cutting his hair in Ragnarok and said "yes make this angst"

Summary
Locked away in a realm of suppressed shadow and secrets, Messmer endures his eternal imprisonment as his loyal companions wither and fade alongside him. Until the day something in the sky shatters, provoking the abyssal serpent within him into a hateful writhe. It reduces him to days of laying bedbound with only scattered moments of coherence.
His soldiers at the Shadow Keep fear the worst, and the reports of strangers can only bring grim tidings. Doubtlessly they seek his death, and to reach the Tower his mother sealed away so long ago. Even wounded, even ailing, he will not allow it.The Tarnished, ex-thief and failed burglar, has followed the guidance of grace since the day of his first death. Away from the slums of his homeland and into the cursed cesspit that is the Lands Between. He followed grace from one battlefield to another, and through his hands only came further suffering. Disillusioned and lured by the honeyed words of a demigod, he passes through the veil only to find a land impossibly worse.
Now he seeks something else, without the guidance of grace, something that may even be impossible: to return the Land of Shadow to the Lands Between and free those within it, even its cruelest prisoner.

Summary
Fleeing the Balrog and Orcs in Moria, Legolas Greenleaf is shot down with an arrow. He dies upon the bridge, unaware of the fates of his Fellowship, and wakes up moments later with the intention of finding his mother, escaping the Halls of Mandos and re-joining the War of the Ring. This would be a lot easier if he was actually in the Halls of Mandos however, instead of at Losgar as the Noldor arrive in Beleriand from Valinor for the first time.
