    Summary

Perhaps, when the leaves ripen, Sunday would try to recreate that delicacy his mother used to make for him and Robin. Glancing back once more in the direction of the kitchen, Sunday smiled softly into the empty train car. He was glad he ultimately decided to keep it on display. It really was quite beautiful, and should be seen by everyone.

Sunday doesn’t yet realize how much he’d come to appreciate that decision, despite the headaches that were to come.

    Or,

What the title says. And how small interactions and an innocent flower pot helped Sunday came to understand the people around him.

    Summary

“You’re not a bird, Sunday,” Mr Yang breaks the silence. Sunday’s eyes flick to him just in time to see him shake his head, his brow furrowed. “Nor are you flightless.”

“Aren’t I?” he retorts. It’s too late to back out now that he’s started the conversation, now that he’s laying himself bare in front of the one person he respects most on this train. “What is it that differentiates me from an injured dove, Mr. Yang? My body might be fine, but to say the same of my mind –”

“You’re not an injured dove either,” Mr. Yang cuts in, firm. Final. His gaze lifts from the tea, eyes blazing with something Sunday can’t name. “And even if you were, you would’ve gotten better with help.”

Or: Five times Sunday floundered while trying to find his place on the Astral Express and the one time he felt right at home.

    Summary

Lynette looks at these shapes in the mirror, but the more she looks, the less she sees. Try as she might, she can’t connect what she sees to what she is.

Lynette. That’s what she is, technically. But what is Lynette? A shadow? A princess? A trick of the eyes?

She doesn’t know. The mirror never answers when she asks.

She should stop asking, then. Talking to mirrors is a strange thing to do.

    Summary

“Mama always told me to savor every bite of every meal because you never know when your next one might be, and I realized the value of a full tummy when I had to pay the price for not getting enough food.” Kinich quietly spoke. Fidgeting with the feather on his necklace.

Elder Leik had recently taken in the young boy known as Kinich, and he'll do anything to not only give the young boy a chance at surviving in this cruel world, but salvage the rest of his broken childhood.
