Cid is about to kill something. Maim it. Take its head off. Murder it.
It’s been three days now. Count them: three. He’s tried everything he’s ever known: fast and dirty, slow and teasing, even just a normal pace. Lightning doesn’t help, just leaves him kind of twitchy. Less or more oil doesn’t do the job. Not even toys are helping.
It’s been three fucking days and no matter what he does, Cid can’t come.

Summary
The kingdoms of Storm had many torrid secrets: the true nature of Dominants was chief among them. A long-held secret from the general populace was that, more often than not, the blessing of the Eikons was also a curse.
Power was drawn to power. Embodying that power had untold changes one the vessel's form. That form had untold political ramifications, long since weaponized by Storm's ever-warring factions. Split into Alphas and omegas, the Dominants had long been key to the tenuous peace between these kingdoms and empires.
Such things went over Clive's head. The rules of Dominants did not apply to him, after all.

Summary
Post-canon. Spoilers to the whole game.
Cid wakes up alive, which is something he didn't think would happen. He's also on a beach he doesn't recognise, which further complicates things.
When he comes across an unconscious Clive that's definitely older than Cid remembers, he knows he'll have much more to catch up on than just the immediate aftermath of the Drake's Head destruction. Hopefully, he'll have Clive by his side.

Summary
They had an arrangement, he and Cid. They had fallen into sex months ago, fulfilling a shared need between them. But it wasn't more than that. They would fuck, and then Clive would leave, going back to his own bunk for the night. It had worked well, despite Clive's budding feelings which he kept firmly to himself. That is, of course, until Cid refuses to let him leave one night, falling asleep with his arms wrapped around Clive. And Clive takes the chance to share his feelings with his sleeping bedmate.

Summary
It's typical enough banter for them that Cid doesn't think any further on it. He assumes Clive doesn't, either.
That is, until he walks into his solar a few nights later and finds Clive kneeling on the floor in a real corset, with panties, stockings, and garters to match. The whole damn ensemble.
Clive is gracious enough to give him a full minute or two to gawk before he clears his throat to get Cid's eyes back up to his face. To the insufferable smirk that lingers there. "Seemed like you could use a lesson on what a corset actually is," he explains smugly. It's unfair how damn calm he seems, kneeling there with his relaxed hands resting on his knees and not the slightest hint of shame.

Summary
Cid wasn't sure why the King had decided to send him to the ruins of Phoenix Gate other than to confirm that, yes, two fire eikons trying to destroy each other could really make a fucking mess. Trying to navigate his way up the castle around the giant fucking crater without being caught by Imperial troops was an experience Cid could have done without.
All he actually got out of the trip was a cat. Or maybe better said, a bedraggled, matted black kitten.
Or: Clive is sometimes a cat.

The lad flushes prettily, which absolutely does nothing to dampen Cid’s amusement. “I am not a damsel, I was in distress, and I had it.” He stomp-squelches his way out of the swamp.

Or, a chance encounter introduces Cid to Clive Rosfield, who's admired Cid for years. Apparently, all of Rosalith is eager to get the two even closer.

Clive's chest heaves. “No… I…” He swallows and rasps around the deep ache in his throat, trying not to cry. “You can't be Cid. He's dead.”
“Is he, now?” Cid's achingly familiar rumble rips through Clive. The older man observes him coolly for a moment. “News to me.”

Clive doesn't die on that beach, as he expects to. Instead he wakes in the Nysa Defile, eikonic powers and memories intact. He doesn't know if he sent himself back in time, or if Ultima did, or if it's some sort of twisted afterlife. But in the end, it doesn't matter.
Because as long as he's still breathing, he might as well make himself useful.

“When you went feral before, as Ifrit, mind, I was able to put you down.” Cid rubs his jaw thoughtfully. “Could do that again when you’re in heat, stop you from hurting anyone. We would probably –”
“Yeah,” Clive interrupts, his face aflame. He sits back down. He understands what Cid is offering and why. Heats alone were agony. Even a shit partner was usually considered better than none. It was even possible that the matter of Clive’s heats had already crossed Cid’s mind, and the man likely assumed that Clive would either find his own partner, and if he couldn’t then Cid would offer to see him through it. It was just the sort of thing that Cid would do, helping someone who needed it.
Then Cid adds, “I can admit it’s not complete selflessness on my part. The thought of you alone, in heat, gone mad with suffering…” His voice dips into a low growl. “Don’t like it much.” The smell of static fills the room and Clive suppresses a shudder.
