The Night of the Flames
Archduke Elwin Rosfield, Joshua Rosfield, and Rodney Murdoch escaped from the destruction wrought upon Phoenix Gate by a mysterious second Eikon of Fire. Though his body was not recovered from the rubble, it is believed that Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, perished in the fortress that night while defending his family from their would-be assassins.
When Murdoch orders the remaining forces to rally at the rear gate, the men instead search the fortress for Clive. As a result of this, many things change and one thing does not.
15 is not a chapter, it is an update about the future of this work.

For the first time, Clive speaks. His voice is a broken rasp. “I don’t want it.”

One thing Rosfield's do in its best is sharing. Their country, their people, all things comes to an end when Rosaria propesrity is shared with others. Elwin is no different. His and his children shared more than most people know, and Clive ever since 13 has been making sure his father and uncle knows that. Byron, now in his late 30s, is old enough to see this coming, but all he wanted was Clive all to himself. Being a little price camed with a lot of prices, and one of them is obedience to the Archduke. When Elwin seems to intervene in their relationship, it takes a turn for the better. So, so much better. Perhaps sharing isn't too bad after all.

Heading towards the Castle where they would spend the night, Elwin couldn't help but think about his faithful Lord Commander, who had fulfilled the mission of transforming his son into the First Shield of Rosaria. They both deserved more than handshakes and hugs for dedicating themselves so faithfully to their common goal, and as Archduke, he was more than willing to reward them.
