Boston’s last game before Christmas was in Montreal, so when Ilya Rozanov showed up at the back entrance to Shane’s apartment bundled up in a winter coat, scarf, and beanie with a wrapped package under his arm, Shane was only half surprised.
“I could have been half way to Ottawa by now,” Shane said with a gentle smile as he took a step back, allowing Ilya to enter the stairwell.
“And yet here you are,” Ilya said.
“And yet here I am,” Shane replied softly. “Is that for me?” He nodded his head at the gift.
“Maybe.” Ilya shrugged. “If you are good.”
“Such an asshole.”
“Mmm, maybe, but you are still here.”

On December 23rd after a heated game against Montreal, Ilya shows up at Shane's house with a Christmas gift that will change the trajectory of their relationship, possibly forever.

Jackie sat back down with a smile. “Thank you, Ilya.”
As Hayden and Rozanov went outside, he couldn't help himself. “What, are you afraid of the dark?”
Rozanov made a sound similar to a scoff, leading Hayden to the car. “Try harder next time, Pike.” He dismissed the jab, but he didn't come up with one of his usual quick comebacks so Hayden counted it as a win for himself.

a year following the long game, the pike family heads to shane and ilya's cottage in ottawa to spend a week with them. hayden is forced into totally mundane situations with the man he can't stand, rozanov. during his time at the cottage, he begins to understand his best friend's husband

"In October of last year, Shane and Ilya became temporary foster parents to one of the students that had participated in the Irina Foundation's hockey camps after he was abandoned by his birth parents for coming out as queer. Since then they have pursued first permanent foster placement and adoption. That adoption was granted and finalized this month. Mac Hollander-Rozanov has been in many pictures that, with his permission, are being re-edited and re-uploaded to remove the emojis that were used to protect his identity in accordance with the government's guidelines."
An additional paragraph added to a photo Ilya and Shane shared to their personal Instagrams:
"Family looks different for everyone, and our family is no different. Mac is our son, and we are so incredibly proud of him and his achievements. We hope that the hockey community will be as respectful of him as they are of other children of players."

Summary
Shane was diagnosed with autism after doing an evaluation for the Montreal Metros. It was a shock at first but it quickly explained so much of his life. And while he's not ashamed of it, he doesn't want to tell the team, or anyone really. He doesn't want them to think he's weak or needs special treatment. The fewer people that know, the better.
So why does he suddenly want to tell Rozanov? And what will he say when he can't hide it anymore?
Or: Shane has a melt down after a press conference and of course Ilya is there is help him though it.

Summary
“Tilt your head back,” Eddie says, his voice barely audible over the running water.
Buck does as he was told, tilting his head back and closing his eyes to the spray of water dripping onto his face. Eddie’s hands go to Buck’s hair, lightly scratching and massaging his scalp. The familiar smell of his shampoo fills the shower.
He relaxes into Eddie’s touch, a small hum escaping his lips as Eddie works the shampoo into his curls with slow, methodical movement. Given the chance, Buck would fall asleep in the shower just from the sensation of Eddie’s fingertips against his head. The touch is light, delicate, intimate in a way he hadn’t expected. The butterflies continue to flutter in his stomach.
“Enjoying yourself?”
“Uh-huh,” Buck says, all other words failing him.
“Good.” Eddie laughs, moving to wash the shampoo out of Buck’s curls. “You just relax, I’ve got you.”

Summary
“I’m sorry for sabotaging all your showings, but you already have a place to live, Buck. Here, with me and Chris.” Eddie says, stepping tentatively towards a very vulnerable looking Buck.
“You really did this for me?” Buck replies, reminiscent of Eddie’s words after finding out Buck was his renter. His eyes are shining in the lamp light of the bedroom.
Eddie’s frantic decision two hours before the last showing to clear out space for Buck’s clothes was clearly worth it for this reaction alone.
“Of course I did, my bedroom has plenty of room for two,” Eddie says without missing a beat.
Buck sputters and turns a beautiful shade of crimson at Eddie’s words.
“I didn’t mean it like that, you dork, I just meant there is room for your stuff in my drawers,” Eddie realized the unfortunate wording too late after it left his mouth.
Buck lets out a loud cackle at that.
