Summary
There was no way to kill Salem, but... what can you do except try? Ruby knew this battle would take more from her than she had left to give. The Battle for Remnant took place in the realm where Grimm spawned and Salem claimed domain. Years of fighting and losing and pushing through has led them to this moment. But this battle, the final battle of the war, would be told to children for centuries to come. Witnesses would conjure up their own mythic of the moment, and parents would filter out the grotesque nature of war, but the simple moral of the story would be engrained in every child of Remnant after this moment: The Reaper harvested the witch's soul, guiding her to a place beyond Remnant where the evil witch was defeated for good. And upon return, the Reaper guided a long-lost soul home out of the Great Door where nobody returns unchanged.
But those stories were for children. The stories of the epic battles and unrealistic heroes that never fail were just stories.
This is a story about the end... and what came after.

Also WARNING: This is a sequel to the long fic Nicole-Divergent so it's best to read that first. You can however read this as you want if you don't want to do that as these are moreso one shots that just happen afterwards but it's better for maximum experience/understanding of character dynamics and this version of Nicole + the other characters in these fics are from that fic specifically.
