At eight, Robin Dixon can take a squirrel out, right through the eye. She can field dress a rabbit. She knows how to ration food, how to shoot a gun, how to track, how to be quiet, and how to survive. She can tell the difference in Uncle Daryl's Honda CB350 from her Daddy's Triumph just by the sound of the engines. But those things aren't very popular for a third-grader to know.
Then the world resets, and the skills she thought were worthless just might save her life.
She's just kid. But she's a Dixon kid. That should buy her at least a few years.
