Dozens of bodies littered the ground in a wide radius, each one grotesquely skewered through and through. Had Cody not been in his current line of work, he would have guessed a metal porcupine the size of a minivan had gone rogue.
Shawn, on the other hand, inhaled a sharp intake of breath, his eyes widening as the camera pivoted sharply, settling on a man’s face.
He had a full, snowy-white beard and looked far too much like a kindly grandfather to be responsible for the slaughter surrounding him.
“Turn the camera over, Rick,” another voice echoed.
Rick turned the lens toward a second man with a silver goatee, marred by a single vertical stripe of black hair. He looked so much like Rick they had to be brothers. This one wore a comical amount of chainmail draped over his head that might have been endearing, but he was currently holding a metal spike to the throat of the trembling correspondent.
“I know you’re watching, Hunter,” Black Stripe said, his voice unnervingly calm and lacking the manic energy usually found in public executions. “And I do hope we’ve captured just enough of your attention,”

That’s a really long tangent that leads the same question. Mumbo always wanted to stay away from villainy so, how has he ended up as one of the most well known ones in the city, and why is he self monologuing while standing about one foot away from a Watcher pointing a gun at him?
Or: Mumbo is an escaped lab experiment just trying to get by and do good. The world said no and suddenly he’s the key to taking down a corrupt government and the centre of everyone’s attention. Including a very particular clone.

This story has ups, downs, drastic quality differences (I started writing this at the beginning of 8th grade, and now I'm at the end of 9th)
and is overall pretty cringe, I did intend for that to be the tone because it was meant to be a parody of action films, series, and books in a way!
This story is unique because it is written to be read as both a book and a screenplay, so my repetitive uses of the words "He looked up" or "he sighed" are both for comedic and real use (If you wanted to act this out or something) -
