Katsuki stiffened. Kirishima and Kaminari froze. Basically, everyone within earshot stopped what they were doing to look at Izuku like he sprouted a second head. What did he just call him? “What the fuck did you just say to me?”
Katsuki whipped his head towards Izuku with his signature death glare as he stood up from where he picked up the fallen supplies.
“U-um I said you dropped some pencils! I think this eraser might be yours to-”
“No. What the fuck did you just call me?”
Izuku starts calling him Bakugou and it pisses the explosive teen off a lot more than he thought it would

Deku has been maddeningly rocking onto the back two legs of his chair over and over, so it was only a matter of time before he went flying backwards. Lucky for him, Katsuki not only anticipated this, but is able to knock Deku back into place before he can smash his stupidly busy brain all over the floor.
“Oh, gosh! Thanks, Kacchan!” Deku says, his round face turned towards Katsuki.
“Sit still, I’m not catching you again,” he growls, a little irritated by the fact that he hadn’t actually made a conscious decision to catch him this time.

Katsuki pinches the bridge of his nose. He counts to ten. It’s what his therapist told him to do so he won’t lose his temper at people, or something. He doesn’t think it works very well, but at least he’s trying.
“Deku and Ground Zero: Secret Lovers?” his manager reads aloud, then continues scrolling on her phone. “Childhood Friends to Romantic Entanglement: The Deku and Ground Zero Story. Oh, my favorite—“ she says quickly, straightening up in her seat. “VICE Japan’s top ten moments between Deku and Ground Zero. They titled it Rivals to Lovers: Looking Back on Their Foreseeable Romance.”

Summary
It used to be Katsuki in front of the stove, cooking bacon and eggs, daringly wearing nothing but his pajama pants, even with the butter sputtering in the pan. Their five year old, now nine, would be hanging off his leg, swinging side to side as she waited for her breakfast. Her short, black hair would be pulled up on top of her head, a style that Katsuki found “fucking adorable”, though the bright pink, sparkly scrunchy wasn't particularly in his tastes.
Katsuki got into the habit of humming, though it was never any of his favourite pop or rock songs, but instead the little ditties they’d sing on the educational cartoons that were on in the mornings. Izuku would stand by the kitchen entrance, watching Katsuki's hips bounce back and forth as their daughter joined in, providing her best rendition of the lyrics; her joyful, jumbled words ringing like bells in comparison to his husbands raspy singing voice.
Izuku missed those days.
He never expected them to come back.

Summary
They get back to school just a little after sunrise, sleepless and buzzing, with grass and dead leaves in their hair. Their classmates glance curiously between them but don’t ask. Katsuki and Izuku have always been a unit unto themselves, two halves of an inexplicable relationship that started way before UA and will last way after they leave. Nobody questions it. Nobody cares, probably, but Izuku indulges the thought that maybe he and his Kacchan are just a constant, an unremarkable part of the furniture that surprises nobody because the way they are is just right.
They move in together, after a while. Katsuki joins Best Jeanist and Izuku trains under Gran Torino. They still take comfort in each other every day, curl up in bed and kiss and talk about how life is going. Their live are tumultuous, after all, what with villains and training and rescuing people every week. It’s nice to have something certain. At the end of a day filled with violence and adrenaline, Izuku knows he can come home to someone concrete.
It’s perfect. Being a hero is scary and grueling and uncertain, but this part is just right.
And then, one day, a child dies in Izuku’s arms.

Summary
If this were anything like the comics, Izuku Midoriya being quirkless would be the norm while heroes would be treated as a rarity. As it stands, everyone’s got a super power, except for Izuku, of course. No worries, though, because he’s over it (nope) and has moved on to bigger and better things (again, nope) like working at a tiny comic book shop and indulging in stories where being able to lift a bus with your bare hands was deemed impossible until proven otherwise.
Oh, and running into your heroic ex-boyfriend? Also unlikely. But Izuku’s life isn’t like a comic book (maybe?) and Katsuki Bakugou is standing right in front of him: still perfect, still handsome, and still putting his combat booted foot in his mouth.
[Or: AU where Izuku works at a comic book shop because that’s as close to a hero as he’s gonna get, and Katsuki plays the part of heroic ex-boyfriend who is good at everything except winning Izuku back... maybe]
