Elisif the Fair has, of course, been pulling the strings out of sight for much longer than her Thanes and Steward ever knew. They suspected nothing from her—she was clearly never fit to be Jarl. But why would they have ever suspected her, anyway? That things were going so well for her was sheer dumb luck.
