i want metal + shadow to run away, never burdened by evil doctors or annoying blue hedgehogs ever again... this is such a wonderfully light read, but like heavy all the same. seriously. it carries a good heft of understanding + solidarity that i love to see in the metadow dynamic. their one-of-a-kind nature too; to say things with harsh or soft gazes, with the flick of a hand or tut of their head, it's all so great. the superior metadow is one that's not built off the rot of another ship or dynamic, but moreso a whole realm of their own... just as these two engineered-weaponhedgies deserve, if anything. i'd def come read this again! ^^

metadow being a rarepair; a robot ship at that, already makes it even harder to come across good explicit works of fiction.. but this one does well with banter plus small details here or there... now, i'm not too sure how i missed this fic the other times i looked for decent metadow fics.. when plenty have 1. distinctive lacks of (power) bottom shadow 2. noncon/dubiouscon plus freak ooc shadow in such a poorly written way 3. others in the main pairtag or a throuple 4. shadow using metal as a sonic substitute. i just need some good FUCKING food!!! idm dead dove (depending) but i think the concept of two machines of mass destruction 'caring for eachother at most, respectfully at least' matters a lot. i've seen plenty metadow that focuses solely on "oh my goodness...! doomed toxic yaoi xd.." yet truly, i do get the appeal.. but it's just a boringly overinflated dynamic; i sincerely believe they can be complex without ending up in cinders by killing eachother or whatever.. they would both likely outlive the rest of the cast anyway. better get used to getting along. chances are that to anybody else, metal sonic + shadow would seem heavily ooc... thing is, i have a (VISION) looot of faith in potential to a pre-established intimate/'what are we?' sort of relationship (by the looks of what this is, or at least rivalfoes w benefits but transitioned to enemies-to-lovers slowburn type of way) cause. it makes you really wonder "how did they get to that point?!" yk? how'd they have their first decent conversation without being wired up for battle, in total defensiveness? how did some boygirlbot (haha) ((insane)) like metal get close enough to shadow for him to be comfortable with familiar banter, that certain degree of openness, with graces of roaming the ult. lifeform's fur so gingerly?! love to see it..... then get stuck in my head brainstorming. anyway, the actual explicit aspects of it do well to be descriptive n exciting without overdoing it or overgeneralizing the act or buildup to said act in a way that could be literally anywhere–anybody; ie., change names + some context... you're 'good to go!' or whatev. it ends up being quite distinctive to the 'potential' (even if still to a fanon/headcanon extent, in a creative light) the pair have. examples would be metal sonic having some kind of a cocky, sadist-y demeanor, as he likely may, with it presenting itself in form of teasing, edgy little kinksorts. it's actually delighting... as for shadow, he's settled with a praise kink paired splendidly with a cocktail of vulnerability + prideful complications. he trusts metal sonic enough to give in to killer-robot uncharacteristic affection, from that sickly sweet sore n soft spot they both seem to ease into, yet not without struggle to fully let walls down unless their prideful + stubborn meets its equal match with eachother's like.. butting heads with eachother. DINNER IS SERVED!!! on a more simple intimacy-focused note, i think it's great to see a decent dynamic in a sexual setting. teasing, goading, 'edging' a sexual partner is fine in the means that there's comprehensiveness or prior consent, especiall for all else in any means. this fic leaves me thinking that they have a track record of flings, sexual encounters / tension, being touchy + affectionate; maybe even to some degree flirty.. iiif you pushed the banter they express here a bit further. which i fw it all HEAVY vro. plusss! implications of decent aftercare, nurturing silence + feedback? that is splendid FORREAL!!! cuddling mindlessly, holding the other like they don't gaf about eachother but actually they do to some extent, learning + adjusting to experiences as such plus more as they go.. cause they never thought they would or have planned to indulge in such... yesss. the sloppy kisses, playing with a quill, booping a nose, holding a waist, cupping a thigh... plus eyerolls, smirks... not-so-discreet chirps that are telltale indications of a laugh... it's so fucking charminggg..! to reiterate... i really adore a casual show of 'unsettled' in the threat of feeling 'too open', lacking the defenses that keep you safe. it's difficult! which i appreciate lots in a character like shadow, so to a degree as well i'll assume metal sonic appropriately computes in his cpu... something akin to understanding, in the way his circuitry would also fry with frustrating or nerves if it were him... methinks that sorta thing would quickly soften his rigid, cold gaze towards the individual he seems established + well esteeming of, cause he KNOWS shadow is definitelt capable + strong + perfect. whether shadow was shy or ashamed, unconvinced of that fact when he said it, it's still intricate all the same. there is a respect, a knowingness there. i believe in his own way, metal was reassuring shadow in his moment of vulnerabilty.
