"What are you doing here alone?”
The words slip past his lips before he even realizes.
The angel turns. His flower crown tilts, delicate petals crumpled in his hands.
He lifts his face, brows furrowing, a frown settling between them. The wind teases his golden hair, strands glinting like spun light. Jay studies him carefully, taking in every detail.
The boy stares back, and something changes in his gaze. Familiarity. Disbelief. As if he, too, recognizes something.
The air thickens. Jay feels the hair at the back of his neck rise.
“You’re not from here, are you?” The angel asks, voice gentle, like a choir’s song. The sound makes Jay shiver.
And then he feels it– the searing burn on his wrist.
Jay has found his soulmate. And it’s an angel.

“I'm really sorry.” Jay adds, this time more quietly. “When I skate I don't really hit people, and especially not pretty girls.”
“Wait! That's not what I meant– N-not that you're not pretty but– I should just the fuck up.” She shuts her eyes firmly, feeling her face warm up at every word.
The silence feels so heavy between them. Even the maltease’s barking can't reach Jay's hearing. The rustle of the leaves falling to the floor, the distant laughter of a family, everything fades away.
This is so embarrassing.
But then, the girl laughs, and it sounds like a symphony. Her laugh isn't loud, it's delicate like a soft breeze. It sends shivers down Jay’s spine, and makes a wave of warmth spread in her chest.
“It's okay, you don't have to be nervous. I know it was an accident.” She offers Jay a smile, a genuine one where her eyes form crescents.
“I'm Jungwon.” The girl introduces herself. She bends down and takes the skate from the floor. “And this is yours.”

“Where are you going?” Jungwon asks quietly, a frown forming on his face.
Jay looks up from his mug of coffee, confused by the question. “To work?” He answers, uncertain.
“Hyung, you’re not leaving this house.” Jungwon’s tone is too soft for how tense he feels.
Jay puts his mug down and fully turns to face his mate. “What? I have an important meeting.”
“Jay… we have a baby and two other kids. I can’t do drop-offs and give Hanna attention.”
“But–”
“Hyung, you said you were going to help me, but you haven’t done much.” Jungwon sighs, scratching hard at his cheek.
“I know, but this meeting is really import–”
“Park Jongseong, call your boss right now and ask for paternity leave before I call my lawyer.”

“I never told you my order.” He jokes, brushing stray bangs from his forehead.
Jongseong laughs, quiet and easy, leaning against the desk. “I pay attention.” His smile lingers, soft and steady.
He nudges the cup closer, his gaze fixed. Jungwon feels his heart stumble at the constant brush of their hands. It lasts only a moment –maybe a minute– but it’s enough to make his chest flutter.
“Enjoy your coffee, Jungwonie.”
Or Jungwon grows attached to his manager’s marketer, Jongseong. What could possibly go wrong?

“Stay with me.” Jay offers after a while. Except it's with the same tone as last time. A tone mixing care and authoritativeness. Something Jungwon isn't used to.
The younger glances up, meeting Jay's sharp gaze.
“What? I'm not staying with you!” Jungwon argues, standing from the stairs. He folds his arms around himself like a shelter, then glances away.
Jay snorts, closing his eyes for a few seconds. “Jungwon, I don't think you realize how serious this is. You can't leave on the streets.”

Summary
Hongjoong works at the executive lounge of Conrad Seoul Hotel as a bartender, serving the hotel's VIP guests each evening. This is where he meets Seonghwa, a guest at the hotel on a romantic getaway with his partner - or - what was supposed to be a romantic getaway with his partner, if he hadn't caught the man cheating a few weeks before.
Instead of ordering a drink at Hongjoong's bar, he requests a glass of milk to dip the cookies his mother packed him in a special breakup bag. He comes with the same request each evening, and as the nights pass, they learn more about one another, about Seonghwa's breakup, and about his hesitance to indulge in all the couple things he planned to do alone or else he'd be reminded of the breakup.
In a spur of the moment decision, Hongjoong volunteers to take his ex's place, being the boost Seonghwa needs to enjoy the trip.
And enjoy the trip, they do.

It has always been Jay and Jungwon, Jay always came first because he was the person he loved the most.
And then the world crashed, Jay left Jungwon and it was only Jungwon.
Nobody and Jungwon. He left a place to Jay, to put his name again in their duo.
Nobody and Jungwon because Nobody could replace him.
Nobody and Jungwon until they met again.
Maybe it was the right time to meet again. Maybe Jungwon had grown up for two years.
Maybe, now, Jay was waiting for him to come back.
(Or Jungwon lost his best friend because of his obsession with writing.)
