Opening her mouth to get the girl to stop, she was surprised when a high-pitched meow pierced the air. Grumbling, she pulled herself to her feet, slightly annoyed by the severe lack of vantage on the surrounding area. From her spot a foot off the floor, it was hard to tell how much glass surrounded them. She could only assume Leo had taken the class out of the rear entrance when nobody came out of the lab.

Lex Luthor Detonates Bombs Across Downtown Metropolis, Killing Thousands.
On-screen, a reporter stood, soot covering half her face, one of her arms in a sling, holding a microphone. Behind her, buildings were either on fire, crumbling, or gone. Pieces of the surrounding buildings littered the streets. Chunks of rock and asphalt. Concrete and plaster. The dust settled in the background, people wandering the streets, lost, and confused. Emergency vehicles lining the edge of the frame as the woman continued to speak, listing damages and areas affected by the blasts.

Summary
The wide hallway, with its tall ceilings and open space, felt so much smaller than before. Suddenly, there wasn’t enough oxygen and Kara found herself running to the nearest balcony. Bursting through the large double doors, she found herself on the balcony overlooking the Luthor gardens where she and Lena spent a lot of time together. Turning her back to the view, she slid down the railing, landing gracelessly on the floor. Curling herself into the smallest ball she could, she wrapped her arms around her knees and cried. Cried for her best friend who she promised to protect. Cried for the girl who went through something so awful, all alone. With nobody there to save her. Kara cried for the girl she loved more than anyone else on the planet. She cried for the girl that had been in the woods for who knows how long, all by herself.

A young Kara Danvers arrives for a summer internship in Metropolis while staying with her cousin Clark Kent and his fiancée Lois Lane. In this world Kara has grown up splitting her time between winters with the Danvers family in Midvale and summers spent working on the Kent farm outside of Smallville. As a result, she’s grown up tall and strong and somewhat different from the other girls around her.
Now she faces an uncertain future as she tries to figure out who she is and who she wants to be. All she knows is that she prefers dress shirts over dresses and sneakers over heels and along the way she meets a certain Lena Luthor who becomes her friend and biggest supporter.
Alternate Universe Supercorp story set when our two favorite dorks are on the cusp of adulthood and meet way earlier in their lives.
