Lena Luthor loves Kara Danvers, she's known that for many years. She loves her so much, that she often has to make choices that are hard, leaving Kara was the hardest choice she ever had to make, but she did it, for them.
10 months after Lena left, she is engaged and prepared to spend her life in misery. While Lena isn't surprised, she's still hurt that Kara never tried to stop her from leaving, never tried to talk her out of her engagement, and never fought for them. Perhaps Lena loved Kara more than Kara loved Lena. Lena truly believed this until Kara was assigned to write the story on Lena's engagement. Lena knows Kara Danvers better than anyone and she knows that through all the flowery words, Kara is lying. How will Lena's realization affect her future and is it to late to fix what her and Kara broke?
Or
Lena and Kara both suffer from the events of season 5 and 6. They end their short but intense relationship and Lena moves away. 9 months later, Kara saves her when Lena's new girlfriend cannot. This event will be the spark that gives our girls 1 more chance to fix mistakes they both made.

Look, Gayle has given up on questioning the logic behind these choices ever since they told her she couldn't leave the premise, but roaming the halls full of weird, probably dangerous alien shit was cool.
But compared to some of the other things she's seen around here so far, an office party can't be that bad, right?

There is probably some christmas- magic supercorp nonsense going on centerstage, but that isn't Gayle's problem. She's a supporting character and perfectly content chilling in the C-plot, thank you very much.
