Reo shakes his head like Nagi is wrong, like his words aren’t the truth. So many negative thoughts are swirling through Reo’s mind that it’s all hard to sort through. “I’m supposed to be the one to keep it together,” he sniffles as a hiccup interrupts him, “I can’t do this, I can’t—It’s not right…”
”You’re supposed to be human,” Nagi interrupts whatever is going to come next out of Reo's mouth. His tone is firm and final, yet still soft at the same time so Reo knows he’s not frustrated or mad at him for being so upset. “And humans get overwhelmed. Even you, Reo. And that’s okay. You handle a lot, it's okay to fall apart sometimes.”
Or, Reo has a panic attack and Nagi comforts him through it.

By the time he finds words again, Reo is already half-turned toward the door, voice floating back over his shoulder, sweet like poison: “See you around, puppy. Try not to lose your toys next time.”
