Aramis arrived in Douai with a desperate need to atone for what he’d done. Haunted and wrestling with guilt over all of the lives he’d put in danger, Aramis devotes himself to prayer and fasting with an enthusiasm that borders on obsession. A visiting clergyman at the monastery takes issue with his methods of atoning and decides to help the troubled former soldier—if Aramis will let himself be helped out of the pit of guilt and self-loathing he’s fallen into.

Summary
Three years into Anne of Austria’s Regency, there are rumblings of dissent. Anne intends to establish absolute authority and refuses any form of compromise for fear her enemies will see it as a sign of weakness. Her chief minister disagrees. With Anne and Aramis at odds over policy, Aramis feels the gulf between them is wider than ever. And when he inadvertently falls into a trap set by the queen’s enemies, he’s abducted and taken from Paris.
With Aramis seemingly having disappeared without a trace, the queen frets. Aramis, meanwhile, is held captive in the tunnels and dungeons beneath the Château de Brézé, and he fears this may not be a trap he can escape from on his own.

Summary
It's just the three of them, stranded in the woods after an ambush, with no backup coming. They have one horse between them, and d'Artagnan's injuries are worse than his. So Aramis tells Porthos to go, to take d'Artagnan back to Paris and leave him here, for now. That's what he says because it's what has to be said. What has to be done. But it's not what he wants to say.

Summary
“It’s fine,” Aramis said. “You needn’t worry.”
Her eyes widened and he saw her lips tighten in an expression of displeasure he’d come to recognize. Oh no, that wasn’t a good look.
“You’re bleeding,” Anne said. “It is not fine.”
He huffed out a half-hearted laugh. “Okay. True. But I’ve had worse.”
----For Aramis, a glancing wound from a musketball is just an ordinary day. But Anne isn’t used to gunshots and bleeding wounds, and she’s a strong woman, but Aramis supposes that she is entitled to a bit of panic. Anne just wishes she didn’t feel so useless in a crisis.
(AI-less Whumptober 2025: "well, that shouldn't have happened" & gunshot & "it's not worth your life!")

Summary
First Minister of France Aramis d'Herblay heads out to investigate rumors that some disgruntled nobles are conspiring against the Queen Regent. This, in and of itself, isn't anything new. The fact that Aramis attmpts to investigate on his own is perhaps not his best plan. But what could go wrong? Well, it's Aramis, so quite a lot, actually. Especially when he's already exhausted from his seemingly endless duties as first minister and fighting off a headache... that might be caused by something other than spending too many hours at his desk.
Or, the one where everyone reminds Aramis that he doesn't have to be a lone wolf and he should take one of the palace guards with him, just in case of unexpected kidnappings.

Summary
“And now you get to tell Stark that the U.S. government believes him dead, while I deal with the mess you made here,” Strange said accusingly.
Strange gave a little “go” gesture with his hand, and Rhodey nodded. “Yeah, okay. But if you think Tony isn’t going to find this hilarious, you don’t know him at all.”The Avengers "accidentally" fake Tony Stark’s death. And Tony does, indeed, find it hilarious.
Or: an entire fic to explain why in the hell Thaddeus Ross was at Tony Stark’s very private funeral. Seriously, who would have invited that asshole? Technically, this is an Endgame-fixit. But also…can you really prove that this isn’t what happened?

Summary
“It wasn’t supposed to end like this, he thought, staring at his bloodstained hand as he grasped Marsac’s side. This was supposed to be the chance to finally, finally learn the truth – to make things right. But instead of putting ghosts to rest, he now held another ghost growing ever colder in his arms.”
Episode tag for “The Good Soldier.” They return to the garrison to find Marsac dead, Treville barking orders, and Aramis not saying a word. At the end of the day, they’re all a little bit haunted by guilt and regret.
