Aizawa clutched his cup of coffee as if it were the only thing keeping him standing. Which it was. He’d only clocked out just over three hours ago to pass out on the floor of his office for a nap, and he was already clocked back in, after a busy night of dealing with nine new Mer transfers to Yuuei Marine Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Center.
They’d gotten a call for an emergency transfer late yesterday afternoon, after a fellow marine center had apparently been exposed as an illegal experimentation facility that was mistreating their animals - especially their Mers. They’d also done some weird experiments with their animals’ genetics, causing some weird color morphs and combos.

His face is illuminated by the moonlight, the backdrop of the street lamps from the waterfront blanketing his bright hair, shining like the sun in the dark of night.
Shouyou turns to face him, licking his lips in a nervous habit, and settles it into a small smile. Atsumu can’t help the upward tug on his own as he meets the other’s gaze.
“Atsumu-san,” Shouyou says, “I’m going to Brazil.”

As a harried waiter carrying a tray of champagne flutes flitted by, Kim Dokja swiftly traded his empty drink out for a full one. He took a small sip of the bubbling alcohol, not breaking eye contact with Yoo Joonghyuk’s aggressive stare.
Aren’t you grounded? His stare seemed to wryly ask from behind the lip of the glass.
And just who the hell are you? Yoo Joonghyuk’s face tightened minutely.
OR: The inevitable meeting between a reader and his protagonist happened a lot differently, and much farther down the line. Also there's a prophecy unfolding in the background, but it's probably nothing to worry about.

In Yoo Joonghyuk’s life exists a clear demarcation: a time before the scenarios, and a time after them. They have become the central reference point, a pivotal moment from which everything else unfolds, like the branches of a tree extending from a single trunk.
Everything that happens afterward is considered "after the scenarios," and everything that occurred before is "before the scenarios."
He doesn't remember what his favorite color is like, but he remembers the feeling of a sword and how the eyes of someone who is dying are.
