Summary
On the subway, the Haikara Walker had been her eyes. Everything she knew from the surface she knew from that battered, outdated magazine. It'd been her didactic, her way of puzzling out some trace of inklish. It was her holy grail, and even now she clutched it tightly in her hands. What used to be her only scrap of the surface was now her only memento from that wretched subway, and suddenly, the whole world was in her hands.
Or
Eight now has the whole surface to navigate and explore.

Summary
"Photon sensing is short-range for navigation? How far Grace see?"
Grace's brows furrowed as he contemplated.
"In here? To the wall—about six meters. But outside, or looking out into space? I can see things that are kilometers away. If it's a star, I can see it from light-years away."
All three Eridians clicked in surprise, the third Eridian—Grace nicknamed them 'Mendel'—wobbling on their stool in surprise.
"Light-years?!" Rocky chirped, melody rising. "You lie! Explain!"

Grace explains what light and colors are.

Summary
“Grace leak from eyes,” Rocky leaned closer, emitting a soft, rhythmic purr that echoed concern. “Heart beat fast. Bad, bad, bad. Grace okay, question?”
And Grace didn’t want to say anything. Wasn’t planning to. It was shameful. It was cowardly. It was pathetic. But—
But—
“I didn’t want to go, Rocky,” Grace wheezed out, the words spilling, tearing from his throat, jagged and bloody and ripping at the seams, and it hurt— “I didn’t volunteer. I-I didn’t want to be a hero.”

Summary
You’ve been on the surface for three months by now. Three months, a week, and two days. You should be able to take everything you’ve bought out of the bags, remove the plastic and sort it out for the next day. You need to pack your bag. You need to make dinner. You need to make tomorrow’s lunch. You need to lay out an outfit for the next morning that doesn’t scream ‘I’ve never had this much in my life and I have no idea what to do with it’.
Camouflage is an inherent biological defense mechanism, vital for survival. The proper colours can turn you into anything you need to escape detection. The brown-grey of a cliff overhang. The muddy green of a kelp patch. Something to keep you safe while you sleep. You want to bury yourself in the sandy floor of the shallows and stay there, low and quiet, where you’ll become another inanimate fixture of the sea.

Summary
Four twitches a little, licks her lips. But still, she says “I heard that song when I was fighting DJ Octavio. Callie and Marie sang it for me.” She presses her toes into the carpet, looks down. “And ever since, it’s felt like home.”
Nobody says anything.
Four looks back up. In a slightly desperate voice, she says “It got into me, y’know? And I - I don’t think it ever let go.”

Agents Three, Four, and Eight have a totally cool and normal girls' night.
