"You okay?" Buck whispered in his direction.
Eddie blinked, as if he'd been somewhere else for a second.
"Hm?" His smile returned just as quickly. "Yeah."
Another firework detonated, louder than the last.
Eddie's shoulders jerked almost imperceptibly.
It was so brief Buck almost convinced himself he'd imagined it.

"We should, uh, probably go to bed." Eddie spoke into his lap, unwilling or unable to look back up into those deep blue eyes, heavy with sleep and something else that Eddie couldn't quite read.
"Right, yeah. I– I guess I should head back to the loft." Buck stuttered out with a sigh.
Neither of them moved. They stayed silent for a beat, waiting for something— they weren't sure what.
Eddie took in a breath, his chest rising and falling, and on the exhale came an apprehensive "...stay."

"You know, Buck," she bites her bottom lip, "If you want to take me home, I have an idea of what you can do."
Buck's hand stays on Eddie's shoulder even as he turns to look at Rachel. Fingers flex and press into his skin.
Her eyes flick between them. "Why don't you two kiss?"

'Forget something?' Buck asks, sending a quick thank you to the universe for making his voice sound relatively normal. It's the most obvious explanation, the only one his brain offers up as Eddie gets closer and closer.
'Yeah,' Eddie says, 'I think I did.'
Eddie pauses, mere inches away from Buck's face, so close that Buck can see tiny droplets of rain stuck in Eddie's eyelashes, which he curses himself for — he's made a deal with himself; he's not allowed to notice those kinds of things. He casts his gaze away, to the slightly damp fabric of Eddie's black top, one he cut the sleeves off himself, revealing a clear view of his biceps, which are also glistening in the rain and maybe Eddie just shouldn't be allowed to wear sleeveless shirts anymore, or be out in the rain, confined to the indoors and sleeves forever or at least until Buck can get a grip on his traitorous heart.
'What did you forget?' Buck asks, or at least he thinks he does, but he can't really make it out over the sound of his heart pounding inside his chest.
'To kiss you, I think.'

“Eddie,” he says, breathless. “I don’t want you to go.”
Eddie’s losing it a bit. He can’t talk round in circles anymore, and he’s running out of ways to even attempt to get into Buck’s head that he’s not a burden and Eddie is exactly where he wants to be.
“Buck,” he tries, taking note of Buck’s equally drenched clothing, the raindrops that cling to his eyelashes and the curls that lay flat against his forehead. He looks perfect, even now, and it’s shaking something in Eddie loose – something that’s sat rigid and unmoving along his spine - keeping him in line, keeping him sensible, keeping him rational and far, far away from doing the very kind of thing he’s about to do right now.

Subtly wasn't one of Buck's strength. - And that wasn't only Eddie's opinion, he knew everyone at the 118 would agree. Buck once adopted a dog to try to get his point across.
Or; Buck fosters four daredevil duckling escapees, Eddie has a firm stance on the term baby duck, and a less firm understanding of Hook-up culture.

Eddie sighs, rubbing a hand on his forehead. “Okay Buck. You’re spider-man, and I’m… something equally ridiculous.”
“Eddie. Dude. I am spider-man,” Buck says, taking a step closer. That distance between them was growing smaller and smaller. What happens when they run out of room?
“Prove it.” Eddie juts his chin out.
Buck waves a hand toward the mask he was still clutching, like that was enough, like you couldn’t buy one at any halloween store.
“That proves nothing,” Eddie says.
“Okay, um,” Buck looks around before holding a hand out and shooting a web right onto Eddie’s wall.
Eddie follows the movement with wide eyes, his brain already trying hard to come up with a way that Buck could do that without being spider-man. He was really struggling to do so, considering he can see that there is nothing wrapped around Buck’s wrist. Eddie looks between Buck’s arm and the wall, back and forth. Back and forth.
Okay, that proves something.

Summary
“BUCKKKKK!” Theo comes racing into the house, skidding to a stop right in front of Buck. He’s breathing heavy, eyes wild with excitement. “Look!” He screams again, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
Buck looks down at Theo and finally takes in exactly what has Theo vibrating to such an extreme. The outfit Buck had put him in before he left the house has now been completely replaced with… a spider-man costume. His kid is in the living room, smiling wider than Buck has ever seen, wearing a spider-man suit.
“Wait!” Theo looks panicked, waving his arms around, “the mask!”
Eddie had at some point made his way into the living room and was standing by the entry way with a warm smile on his face. Theo turns around and runs to him, grabbing the mask from where Eddie had it in his hand and pulling it on.
“Okay,” Theo nods, “good.” He faces Buck again and now Buck is faced with the image of a mini spider-man. He can be really normal about this.

Eddie teases, mentioning Jee and Buck laughs lifting his head from Eddie’s neck and leaning it on his temple instead, swaying in the rhythm Eddie leads them.
‘’She got that from her uncle,’’ Buck teases.
‘’What, me?’’ Eddie says pinching Buck’s back. ‘’She did learn a couple of Spanish phrases from my telenovelas that I pray to God Maddie never looks up the meaning of.’’
Buck snorts. ‘’I meant me, dumbass.’’
Eddie kisses Buck’s temple and looks him in the eyes. ‘’I know. I just love seeing you all flustered when I call myself her uncle.’’

Summary
Eddie has been back from Texas for a few weeks now. Buck hasn't yet moved out, so they're essentially living together.
This would be fine if Eddie hadn't realised he was in love with Buck while he was away.
Now Eddie is being domestically tortured, because Buck is performing husbandly duties while he's only Eddie's best friend.
One morning, it all gets to be too much, and Eddie snaps.

Buck and Eddie kiss for the first time in the middle of a park in El Paso, in the heights of beautiful, Texas spring. They do it surrounded by flowers, a warm breeze, and a million unspoken words.
Fifteen minutes after they kiss, after Eddie's legs go shaky with anxiety enough that Buck lowers them both to the ground, staining their pants green and blue with the grass and flowers, Eddie starts speaking.
“I picked a bluebonnet once, when I was a kid.”

Summary
Eddie yelps slightly in shock as Buck latches his lips onto Eddie’s neck, peppering kisses as he opens the door and pushes Eddie into the darkness of the storage room.
“We should’ve done this hours ago,” he murmurs, voice rough as he begins biting onto Eddie’s neck.
And then… “What the hell?”
That’s not Eddie’s voice.
Buck pulls off Eddie and switches on the light, illuminating the small space and revealing a very flushed May and Ravi staring back at them in shock.
