Summary
Charles always wanted to give hugs like that, full of warmth and love. Ones that made you feel like you were one and the same, melding together until pulling away felt like an impossibility. Dying sorta put that on hold, yeah? Edwin didn't seem the hugging type and Charles respected that. But well... desperate measures and all.

Summary
Charles was trying. He was trying so damn hard.
But the air was chilled now, he couldn’t feel it, but it was like the atoms of his spirit would always remember. That the winter time would elicit an ache in his bones, a pit of fire in his stomach and a fear so pronounced that it gripped his heart until spring. He didn’t really have any of those things anymore. And yet he was never more fooled that he still did have flesh and blood to shake, than when winter came to London.
He can't let Edwin see him like this.

Summary
It’s just turned November in 1999, meaning that Charles has been dead (and thus with Edwin) for almost a full decade. If he had lived, he’d be 26 now. He is 26, sort of. He’s sure that he’s more mature now than he was when he died, but that might just be the natural result of a decade spent with Edwin standing next to him, raising a single eyebrow imperiously as if to say ‘really, Charles?’ every time he acts before thinking (so, almost all the time).
or
10 years after Charles dies, he realizes that he's in love with his best friend. He handles this about as well as anyone could expect.

Summary
In life, Charles had developed a system of tricks and cheats to get all the touch he needed without arousing suspicion. It had worked very well, and he’d been proud of himself for working it out. Then he’d gone and died, and the only person he could feel anymore wasn’t big on touch. 35 years on, he finally figures out Edwin’s trick, and decides to do some testing to make sure he’s got it right.
Or, five times Charles gets hurt so Edwin will touch him, plus one time he just asks like a normal person.
Or-or, five times Charles puts himself in Situations and Edwin gently takes him back out, plus one time Edwin very gently (and consensually) puts him in a Situation they both very much enjoy.
