It wasn’t that it was an awful job to do, it just wasn’t something he really liked doing, if he could avoid it.
It’s not like he was bad at it, either. He had all the necessary skills; he was stealthy, tactical, and a pretty damn good fighter.
It’s just that... well.
It’s really goddamn boring.
(That is, unless recently stabbed strangers decide to stumble into the area you’re scouting.)

Her voice is hushed and frantic. Her hands move lower on Ralsei’s back, properly getting a grip on his skinny form. The green fabric of his cloak flutters around his legs as he's lifted up onto his tip toes. Susie buries her head into the prince’s shoulder, heat rushing to where her snout presses against his neck.
Ralsei trembles as their hug shifts, their new position being so much more intimate. It’s wonderful and horrible all at the same time. He hates it, he loves it. He wants Susie to give this to someone more deserving, someone real. He never wants her to let him go. It’s wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. He is a Darkner, he should not be selfishly wanting. He should not be–
There is pressure on his back. It moves in a circular motion, unsure but insistent. "A-are you crying?”
