Summary
As prince of the Infinite Realms and future master of Space, Danny knows that he must master the art of making portals. To be able to step through a tear in reality of his own creation and appear wherever his heart desires was crucial in his training. Clockwork had sent him to Wulf, a ghost who had long since mastered the creation of portals and was currently hiding from Walker.
No matter how hard he tries, Danny just can't seem to get it. Wulf says that in order to make a portal, Danny needs to channel his deepest desires. He must want for nothing but to reach his destination. However, Danny doesn't have a deepest desire. Everything he could ever need or want is in the Infinite Realms with him. What could he possibly desire so much that he would tear reality to get to it?

Danny has avoided reuniting with his twin for years, first out of fear of his grandfather finding out he was alive and then out of fear that he would hate him for letting him think he was dead. After he tells Jack and Maddie he's Phantom and they take it less than stellar though he has very few choices.
PSA: I think this story is done for the most part. I MIGHT do a bit of a sequel later on with more of Danny's POV, but I think I've gotten to a point where I can start Dan's part of the story pretty naturally. When I have the time and energy I might also report to break this up a bit and give Dani's chapters to their own fic in the series and leave Danny's here bc she just kinda snuck up on me there in her chapter lol

When Danny first watched Fullmetal Alchemist, he'd laughed at the idea of equivalent exchange. Losing his leg hadn't gotten him anything. It only took from him--his ability to walk, his place in the league, his brother. Sure, his new life in Amity was fine, but it didn't take away the great losses he'd experienced. None of it felt equal.
Years later, Danny finds himself in Gotham, prey to the people his mother had thrown him to. He's prepared to lose his life, but then Damian appears, and suddenly Danny understand the desperation Edward felt when he'd sacrificed his arm so readily for Alphonse.
I don't think of equivalent exchange as a law of the world anymore. I think of it as a promise, between my brother and me, a promise that someday we'll see each other again.
