Summary
First birthdays are important. At least that’s what he’s always heard. In all honesty, Copia would classify all birthdays as important. It was something that he’d never experienced as a child. Most of the time the sisters in the orphanage were too busy with other kids or something else entirely to even grant the idea of a party for any of the children they were tasked with. It wasn’t that big of an issue, no one was treated better than the other. Only that left him at a bit of a loss when it came to the actual date of his own birthday. At this point he was purely going off guessing. All he knew was that he was close to fifty (he thinks; give or take).

Summary
Copia hums under his breath as he readjusts the tiny bundle that’s nestled in his arms. He’s never really had much experience when it comes to babies. Granted he always seems to have the magic touch, something that the mothers of the ministry see fit to exploit when their babies won’t stop crying. Once in his arms they always seem to settle and Copia assumes that’s probably a good thing because it’s at least given him a little practice with tiny humans. Not that he minds, there’s always something comforting about holding a baby, at least to him. That and he’s always a little sad to see them go when their parents deem it suitable to reclaim them.

Wei Wuxian stared openly at the man sitting across from him, unable to look away from the strange picture he made.
He wore common clothes and had his hair up in a simple bun, his expression was contained, but soft as he looked at the baby held in his lap. Though nothing about the way he presented himself was outwardly remarkable, his mannerisms gave him a distinguished air. There was a gracefulness to him, the type that hid strength behind it.
And he was beautiful. Even missing his usual mourning white and forehead ribbon there was no way Wei Wuxian would have mistaken him for anyone else.
Still, the Lan Wangji with him right now might as well be a different person from the one he knew. He was still as stoic and silent as ever, but there was a warmth in him that he’d never seen before.
Or: Wei Wuxian’s life takes a turn for the unexpected when he’s approached by Lan Wangji on his way back from a night hunt.

He said it with confidence in the knowledge that it was a ridiculous idea, expecting Lan Wangji to brush it off, or say something far too sweet to reaffirm his love. Instead, in a contemplative tone, he said: "There was another."
