For the wolves of Winterfell will protect and uplift their pack no matter what, even if one of those members is a dragon.

He thinks of her hand placed so trustingly in his when she found him awaiting her at the end of the passage, the giddy exhilaration in her eyes as she raced through the streets, and an unfamiliar sense of shame curdles in his stomach.

Rhaenyra Targaryen is beloved of the Realm, and of her uncle Daemon. After her father names her heir to the throne, Rhaenyra envisions a future for herself. In that future, she is the Queen and the wife of Daemon Targaryen. The only trouble is... Daemon already has a wife, and Rhaenyra can't seem to hold onto allies. Her uncle's hand in hers is the only constant. Thank the gods his eyes burn with the same determination as hers.
A first person POV retelling of Fire and Blood/House of the Dragon from the perspective of Princess Rhaenyra, which will remain canon compliant to a certain point before deviating (full deviation beginning in Chapter 25 with slight canon adjustments in previous chapters made to suit fresh characterization).

Summary
It didn’t take long for her to realise her father was weaker in more than just his health and she would gain nothing from ruling like he did.
Which is why it frustrates her when he barely questions the stupid decisions the queen consort makes, as if she is queen herself, like Rhaenyra will be. She cries sometimes when she realises she would rather death came for her father sooner. Still, she doesn’t think that what he has now can be considered living.
Whispers and glares don’t bother her, but now that it comes in the form of insults towards her children, she can’t help but react. She is a dragon after all. And now a mother.
or, Viserys is reminded that he is the King, and he needs to protect his heir and future queen a bit better. This focus on Rhaenyra's journey into improving her game of politics, as she goes to remind people that slander and treason are crimes, that Arryn and Baratheon genes can be in play, and perceived hereditary traits matters not when genetics is not yet a field of study. With the help of her husband, Rhaenyra is set to gain new allies, both outside the Keep, but also, within her own family.

Helaena Targaryen is a good Queen, a good wife and a good mother. She had a lot of practice of course, she had been all those things for most of her life. A wife at three and ten. A mother at four and ten. A Queen at twenty. It would be rather embarrassing if she was not decent at it by now.
She doesn’t know how she became good at all those things, so if you were to ask, she would not be able to answer. If you truly want to figure it out, she supposes one has to start at the beginning.

Yet another time travel fix-it but with a twist. Thanks to @The_Sithspawn (The Raven's Plan) for the inspiration and @Priestess_of_Groove (The Dragon's Roar) as well. I wanted to go with something a bit different than starting at the beginning and wanted to aim for angst with some tension. This starts roughly, very roughly, after Season 2 (Clash of Kings) and start of Season 3 (A Storm of Swords), I've taken some liberties with timing mostly because, well why not. This is also a mix of book and show, trying to bring in some more of the greyness of the Book characters with the plot points we all know. I've been holding on to the start of this for after the premier.

Without consideration, he turned swiftly and grasped her wrist without equivocation, just before she twisted the handle to exit; Before she could take the decisive sealing steps out of his chambers. She turned then, surprise subtly rocking her features. She glanced down at his fingers clasped around her wrist, before trailing it upward to his eyes.
“Stay,” He pleaded for her, his share of anguish now prominently coming out, “Please.”

He understands that he has betrayed and avoided her and yet here she is offering her heart again, offering a future and perhaps a throne to share and he feels shame at her continued hope and generosity. His heart is wrecked with anguish and doubt and yet he knows he loves her still, despite all he’s seen her do and be.
“You are my queen, now and always.”
The echoes of Tyrion’s warnings clatter against his skull as her tongue darts into his mouth, blurring his mind with how safe she feels. He feels another wave of shame duel against the wave of his desire. This is how it’s been each time he’s kissed her since he found out. This battle within. And yet. And still. And again. He wants her. How can he still yearn for her so earnestly? This conqueror, this killer, this aunt of his.
“Together?” He whispers, it is half statement, half question.

Losing one dragon to someone else's advice should have woken her up. It wasn't until the end of the world when she started to realize she was losing herself to become what they wanted her to be. But she's never been very good at playing someone else's game.
