Summary
Trinity was supposed to be off the clock in an hour when she got dragged into an incoming trauma. She never expected to end up holding a live rocket lodged in the patient’s chest.
With every second that passes, Trinity realizes that if the bomb goes off, the one thing she’ll regret most is leaving behind the woman she loves without ever telling her.

Summary
Trinity takes a deep breath, steeling herself. “I was wondering whether I could switch to working night shifts. All the time.”
Abbot raises his eyebrows, not actually looking that surprised. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“Just…” avoiding my ex-not-even-girlfriend? Probably not the best thing to say. “Just looking for a new experience. I feel like I could learn a lot from working nights.”
He stares at her for a moment. It’s a little unnerving, and Trinity feels her back straighten instinctively. Then he smiles, clapping his hands together.
“About time.”

Summary
“So…” Trinity hated silence. She’d never been the type to just let things be, always needing to fill the space. And it was no different sitting in her car with Whitaker in the passenger seat as she just started processing the fact that she'd actually invited this random guy she’d known for less than a day to live in her apartment. “Hell of a first day, huh?”
Trinity Santos voice: "Day one with my fearful, shut-down foster MS4."

Summary
If Dennis had to start dying in front of anyone, Trinity Santos would be one of his top choices because he knew she would do practically anything to keep him alive. Sure, a lot of those things were probably crazy and would earn her a lecture from Robby or Abbot or whoever was the attending when they inevitably arrived at the Pitt, but at least Dennis would live to tell the tale.
Dennis pictured his airway closing and Trinity performing a crike on him on the floor of their apartment with the sharp little paring knife she used for slicing fruit. It’s exactly the kind of insane thing she’d manage to pull off.
Since it was after seven, Abbot would probably be in charge of the ER and when they arrived he’d probably say something like, “Doctor Santos, you know that interns aren’t supposed to perform unassisted crikes. But that was super cool.” Or he’d probably never say super cool but Dennis was too out of it to conjure a good Abbott impression and that seemed close enough to the lecture Trinity’d received after the REBOA incident.

Summary
If Cassie traces it back like a line on a piece of paper, she knows it’s because of what happened the day of Pittfest, but if she’s feeling more honest, she’ll say the line started long before that. But being honest with herself requires admitting something happened—even though nothing happened, technically—and that would make it all way more real. So she continues not naming this thing that now sits between her and Dana Evans, letting it snowball in size until the day it knocks one of them over.
or, Cassie and Dana almost kiss after Pittfest—and now Cassie must deal with the fallout.

“There’s money on you or Abbot snagging that resident first.”
This piques Emery’s attention. Abbot. No mention of the intern. She tries not to let her interest show on her face. “Funny. I don’t know which resident you’re talking about.”
Garcia snorts. “I think you do.”
Walsh does not have a crush. However, when she finds out Dr. Samira Mohan is, in fact, single, she makes her move.

“You again?” Trinity asks suddenly when she sees her leaning against the doorframe.
Yolanda simply shrugs. “I need immediate medical attention and… you’re the only doctor I trust,” she explains without hesitation, already stepping closer.
Trinity does not have a second to think before Yolanda is fully invading her personal space, leaving her no choice but to place her hands against her chest.
“Respect personal space, Doctor Garcia,” Trinity comments, holding back a laugh as she bites her lower lip.
“Doctor? Not your wife anymore?” Yolanda teases, pointing at herself before redirecting to her ring. “Hey, remember?”

Summary
Something sharp and unpleasant twists low in Dana’s stomach before she can stop it.
Because Cassie hasn’t looked at her like that all day, hasn’t softened once. Not after the trauma, not after the staffing disaster, not after Dana spent hours trying to keep the entire department from capsizing.
She knows it’s unfair the moment it passes through her mind.
Dana’s the one who’s been stomping around the ER like an active thunderstorm since sunrise, snapping at Cassie in front of staff because she was overwhelmed and overstimulated and furious at literally everyone with a pulse.
Still, the feeling comes anyway.
Small and ugly and immediate.
Or: Though everyone at PTMC is blissfully unaware, Dana and Cassie have been dating for a few months when a new nurse joins the team. Dana handles it very well (no, she doesn't).

"You like doin' me favors? Do me a favor and let me suffer in peace, kiddo.”
“Kiddo?! I’m 42 years old. And what you’re asking is ridiculous, no offense.”
Dana furrows her brow, bothered by Cassie’s refusal to back down. Or release her from that intense fucking gaze. “Wait a second. Are you the one who wants to sleep with me?”
Cassie almost does a spit take; Dana hurled the accusation her way as she was taking a swig from her water bottle. “Why does it sound like you were hunting down suspects?”
(Cassie's made a habit of saving the day. Dana doesn't know what to do with herself.)

Summary
Cassie rolls her eyes dramatically, then reaches up to yank at the long, straight curtain of her own hair where it spills over her shoulders. It's damp from the shower she just finished, dark strands dripping a small wet patch into the back of her sweatshirt. “Actually," she says, "I was coming to complain."
"Oh, good," Dana replies dryly although she doesn't look particularly put out. Her eyes track every little movement of Cassie’s like she doesn’t even realize she’s doing it, constantly taking in new information. "My favorite."

Summary
Cassie has this awful fleeting image of her lying there, stunned not by the pain itself but by the realization that getting back up was going to take a kind of effort she just didn’t know she had anymore.
The thought hurts. More than Cassie expects it to.
Because Dana should never have had to absorb that moment alone.
Because someone should have protected her.
Because it suddenly feels obscene that people like Dana spend decades holding emergency departments together with sheer will and sacrifice only to eventually become vulnerable inside the exact systems they’ve carried for years.
Cassie wishes, fiercely and irrationally, that she could take the fear out of her entirely.
Or: in the weeks after the assault, Cassie wonders if Dana will truly come back. If there's no other way to be certain, she guesses she'll just have to start checking in on her herself.
