Garrett Hawke becomes the Inquisitor, and the concept is not just brilliant, it's brilliantly executed. There's an ensemble cast where everyone, even minor characters, gets their chance to shine, and the dialogue is such that every character /lives/. I totally buy into their Fenris and Dorian, and all the moments between Hawke and Anders make me smile so, so much. And plot. Obviously it's the DA:I plot but it's still put together in such an exciting way that if there was ever a fanfic I wanted as a movie this would be it; I can imagine /everything/ and I'm biting my nails for Part 3.
Best read with the DA:Inquisition OST in the background.

Summary
Sequel to MUD AND SAND, originally written on the Dragon Age Kinkmeme. Sailing off into the sunset isn't exactly the same as sailing off into Antiva. Hawke and Anders still have much to sort out, both in and out of their new leather trousers. After two weeks on the open water, Anders never wanted to see a foamy wave-cap again.

Anders is a Tevinter magister (not a very good one) and Hawke is a slave (not a very good one, either) and the two don't get along very well (except for when they really, really do). Every mage, at some point or another, dreamed of one day becoming a magister in Tevinter. And if they told you differently, chances were they were lying.

Written for a prompt on the Dragon Age Kinkmeme. OP wanted a future/post-game fic in which Hawke and Anders are revolutionaries, but something goes wrong, and one of them is replaced by a younger version of themselves. Varric's got a serious case of writer's block, and Anders tries to find himself in a future he can't quite believe. There was always something more to be done; the more you cleaned, the more you had to clean. Some people got off on that eternal servitude to bettering the world around them thing, while the prospect made others feel nauseated, right in the pit of their tainted belly.

Hawke gave Anders a ring, after their first night together, and never quite told him what it meant. As Kirkwall begins to crumble around them, Anders struggles to strike a balance between love and the needs of the mages.
A fic for everyone who wished a romanced Anders could have received a unique costume update like the other LIs. In retrospect, he had ample opportunity to realise what was happening from the moment Hawke first gave him the stupid thing.
