Sometimes things don't work out.
Sometimes the person who you thought was the one for you turns into the person you can't stand to be in the same room with for five seconds. Eddie never thought he'd be this way with Steve though. He thought that what they had would be able to withstand anything. And it was that way. Until they grew up.
Sometimes things don’t work out, sure, but sometimes you also have to fight tooth and nail to make sure they do.
And Eddie is ready to fight for Steve.

Eddie lays his head on Steve’s shoulder and takes in a breath. “I can’t believe it’s over.”
“Yeah, I know…” Steve says and he turns to Eddie, whispering, “We’re married.”
“No more living in sin,” Eddie pouts.
“Y’know, not a lot is going to change. We’re still us. Like,” Steve starts and jumps off the couch to their duffle bags, “Oooh, we’re unpacking. But married.”

Wayne Munson isn’t the first person to come to mind when someone thinks “kid friendly.”
He likes kids well enough, just hasn’t been around them much. The most experience he had was with Eddie, but he was already half grown when he arrived at Wayne’s doorstep at thirteen. So, suffice to say, Wayne doesn’t know what to do with the twin tornadoes that are Steve and Eddie’s daughters.

“Y’know, Steve, you don’t have to go all the way to Indy for…” Eddie says, mimicking the same gesture Steve used earlier.
Steve looks at Eddie, eyes searching his face. “Yeah?”
“Yeah. I can probably think of someone here in Hawkins,” Eddie replies, voice low.
“Anyone I’d know?” Steve whispers despite it just being the two of them.
“I think you might, yeah,” Eddie says, now closer than he was before, voice just as breathless. Steve feels fingers, then a palm on his thigh. He looks over and locks eyes with Eddie. Even in the low light of a summer sunset, Steve can see Eddie’s eyes dilated fully, a sea of black on his handsome face.

Max's eyes widened, hand stopping just before making contact with the closed door to Steve and Eddie's apartment.

“Quit the bullshit, I wouldn't have to keep telling you if you did it this century.”
This was not what Max had been expecting when she drove over that morning. She expected to knock on the door, be greeted by two lovesick buffoons that had recently moved in together, and grab the Dungeons & Dragons book Mike had left there. Apparently having a car made everyone think they could ask for favors. Well after this lovely start to the morning, that wasn't going to happen again any time soon.
She should leave. She definitely shouldn't press her ear to the door to hear better.
