“I think I needed that.” Is the first thing Buck says about an hour after Eddie confronted him in the kitchen, breaking down the walls he had desperately tried to build up in the two weeks after Bobby died.
OR
Instead of Buck and Eddie leaving each other alone after their fight in 8x17, Buck comes back to Eddie to talk. They apologize, cry, get in bed, and cry some more.

“Yeah, bud?” Eddie lifted his head from his phone, looking at his son.
“Can I ask you a few questions?” Christopher opened his phone as he spoke.
Eddie quirked up an eyebrow. He wondered for a moment what questions Chris could possibly ask and momentarily, he mentally prepared himself for the worst.

Summary
Richie bolted down the corridor to get to the music room. Ruth followed him down, repeatedly insisting that there must be some kind of mistake. Overtaking him, Ruth slammed into the music room door, stumbling forward and tripping over herself when it opened quicker than she expected. She didn't bother pulling herself back up and just laid there instead. Miss Mulberry looked unfazed. She was sitting on her desk with a coffee in hand. Richie stepped over Ruth and Miss Mulberry shushed him before he even spoke.
“No, there are no mistakes on the cast list.” She droned, taking a sip of her coffee. She looked utterly fed up. “I am just as annoyed as you are.”
“Why.” Was all Richie could muster. Ruth groaned from the floor.
“As a detention alternative, apparently. Principal Blim thinks making our lives hell will cure Max of his anger issues.”
“I don't think you're allowed to say that, Miss Mulberry.” Ruth mumbled, her voice muffled by the floor her head was still pressed against.
“Ruth, you know I'm not paid nearly enough to care.”
“...okay.”

As an alternative to detention, Max is forced to be a stagehand for the school musical. Richmax ensues.

"Eddie, you were looking the whole time we were in here. None of us have seen him." Hen's voice wavered for just a second, and Eddie had to fight to keep his own voice steady.
"I'm not done here. Let me finish, please." Eddie pleaded, cursing as the rock chipped against his fingers as he tried to break chunks apart with his hands.

An 8x18 rewrite where Buck gets stuck in the collapsing building, not knowing that Eddie was waiting on the other side for rescue.

Summary
Everyone was okay in the end, and the collapse would soon only be a memory, with no casualties to report. Eddie and Chris were finally staying, and Maddie had her baby. He was an uncle again. Life was good. Good enough, at least, even if he was technically homeless. It was for the best reason possible, but still, it hurt a little, not to have anywhere to call a home. Or no one, for that matter.

Buck felt like he was drowning. His hands were lax around Eddie's, and his brain was going a hundred miles a second and still struggling to catch up. It was like everything was coming together, like a puzzle he never even realized was there until he was handed the solution, and it just, it /made sense/. It finally made sense. He and Eddie. Eddie and him.
