Peter wakes up in a hospital and, for one blissful moment, thinks Tony Stark is holding his hand.
He's wrong.
Tony is dead. Peter is alone. And the man sitting beside his hospital bed is Frank Castle, who apparently has decided that this kid is now his problem. Especially since he was the one that shot the kid. Oops.
Neither of them is particularly good at talking about grief, but Peter asks for a pinky promise anyway. But Frank Castle doesn’t make pinky promises. Except maybe, just maybe, for this kid.

“Why are you here?” he asks, and honestly Tony hates everything about this.
The forced conversational tone, the way Loki eyes him suspiciously like he’s just going to call the cavalry on him and be done with it, which is honestly what Tony should be doing right now. Six months ago Loki Odinson broke out of SHIELD custody at the price of two dead and five injured. Not to mention the property damage that of course Stark Industries covered in full. But something about Loki—maybe the soft pajamas, his messy hair, his bare feet on the cold floor, or the limp he’s trying to hide as he crosses the kitchen to get himself a glass of wine—makes Tony want to figure this out on his own first.

Summary
After Loki's attack on Manhattan, he is sent back to Asgard and is sentenced to imprisonment. Except the second Thor leaves and returns to earth by choice, Odin transfers Loki to the dungeons and brutally tortures him until there is nothing left of the Loki that everyone knew, and becomes terrified and overly submissive, hiding his scars and never opening his mouth to speak. When Thor returns seven months later, he sees this but is not told why his brother has become like such. In a panic, Thor decides to dump him with S.H.E.I.L.D and is kept under watch by the Avengers in order to get him away from Asgard. To everyone's shock, he is too busy being terrified of punishment to try anything. Tony's suspicions get the best of him and when he ends up trying to 'rehabilitate' Loki, he get's far more than he bargained for.
