Summary
In which Fire Lord Zuko has a perfectly dysfunctional relationship with his own designation: omegas are off limits, he blows off steam at Republic City brothels with other alphas when he needs to, and he occasionally has a rendezvous with Jet when the opportunity arises.
That way, Zuko never has to deal with the ugliest parts of his alpha, and how much his own possessive, vicious nature reminds him of his father.
But then Katara suddenly shows up smelling like herself again after fifteen years on suppressants, newly single and very interested in finally finding out what being an omega actually entails.
Zuko, naturally, handles this with all the grace and restraint expected of a dignified Fire Lord…

“I swear it on Agni and the entire rest of the pantheon, omega,” Zuko said, his mouth close to her ear, his thumbs digging into the backs of her shoulders. “Once I get you out of here, I’m getting you into a proper nest, you’re going to invite me in, and then I’m going to fuck you through the damned mattress until you don’t remember your own name.”

In which Katara, who hates everything about being an omega, agrees to hunt down her mother's killer with Zuko. Only the mission goes spectacularly south: they get captured, thrown into a cell, Katara runs out of suppressants, and the omega she's spent years pretending doesn't exist suddenly develops some very loud opinions.
And Zuko's alpha - who's been trying very hard not to search for a certain omega's scent ever since he caught a whiff of it years ago - seems to have a few opinions of its own.

Summary
Since the new ATLA movie decided to delete Zuko's lightning scar from existence and create a continuity error, I came up with a little headcanon that Katara has been spending extra time to heal the scar. It's a set-up for them to fuck, of course.

Charlie’s trying not to notice how his breath catches when the doc gets too close. He’s also trying not to notice how the bodies keep piling up, unsolved. Neither effort is going particularly well.
And if one more person tells him it was a bear, he’s going to shoot something. Probably not a bear.
