In a dark room a young boy sits in his bed, eyes vacant as they gaze on a video.
"Hey bud, it's your birthday!" The smiling man's eyes drift off screen, "Twelve is an impressive number, you're gunna be gettin' hair on that chest soon! I miss you like crazy, it's your birthday but behave okay?" Eyes once again move to somewhere else. "I saw you started baseball! I'm proud of you! Hit a homerun for me." A voice in the back called out, "I'm alright here, working hard. I can't say much but-"
"Now Marine!"
The man sighs, "I gotta go, but I wanted to be sure to wish you a happy birthday," His smile is light, "I love you, make me proud alright?"
The video ends and the room is still. The boy's face is blank, emotionless as his eyes begin to burn, lashes fluttering with the ache to close. A hand reaches out and taps the screen.

Max had ordered David to kill his child the minute it was born, and if for some reason he didn't, he made sure that Dwayne and Paul got the same order.

Max thought that was the end of it, and it would have been, if he gave Marko the same treatment. But no, he figured the pains of pregnancy and labor would have been punishment enough.

When he’s ten, Orion recognizes Slytherin’s locket in the drawing room, lost amongst other nicknacks and cursed items, knowing better than to touch it.
He stares for a long while, wondering how he could’ve forgotten, before turning on his heel.
He remembers the story. How can he not? But it’s fragmented and jumbled in his head, blurring with what he knows of this life and the details he does recall don’t concern him.
