Summary
Sam Wilson wakes up in the hospital after a mission gone wrong to three discoveries:
One, his shoulder is wrecked.
Two, Bucky Barnes hasn't left his bedside in fourteen hours.
And three, according to the hospital staff, Bucky is apparently his husband.
It’s a paperwork mistake. Months ago, Sam listed Bucky as his emergency contact and wrote *partner* under relationship. He meant *mission partner*. The hospital made a different assumption.
Sam thinks this is the funniest thing that’s happened to him all year.
Bucky does not.
But then Bucky volunteers to take Sam home. He starts cooking his meals, keeping track of his medication, helping with physical therapy, and making Sam’s coffee exactly the way he likes it.
And somewhere between *emergency contact* and *husband*, Sam starts to wonder when the misunderstanding stopped sounding quite so ridiculous.

Summary
Bucky Barnes is an excellent liar when he needs to be.
Unfortunately, Sam knows his tell.
It begins with a stolen donut, a suspicious twitch of Bucky’s jaw, and the discovery of a stray cat named Sergeant Whiskers. Soon, catching each other’s lies becomes a game. One that follows them from Louisiana breakfasts to dangerous missions and increasingly personal questions.
But when Bucky takes a devastating hit meant for Sam, the game stops being harmless.
Because Sam knows Bucky is hiding something. All he has to do is ask the one question neither of them is prepared to answer.
“Are you in love with me?”
Bucky freezes.
Sam waits for the jaw thing.
It never comes.

It should be easy. They already know everything about each other, spend most of their free time together, and argue like it’s a competitive sport.
Unfortunately, they’re a little too convincing—and after the mission ends, neither of them knows how to stop acting married.
Or: Sam and Bucky accidentally build a life together and somehow remain the last two people to notice.
