There was always something off within the home of Mori Ougai, and his children. There was always something off with them.
It seemed every hallway only got longer and longer the more you walked them. It seemed every door was just lying, waiting for some unlucky soul to twist the doorknob to devour them whole. It seemed every painting, picture, photo was watching them, even in their sleep. They were always watching. It seemed every window was a cage, and they could never get a good look of the outside world from inside their confines. It seemed every mirror was like a funhouse mirror, and boy was there a plentiful amount of them, giving distorted views and visions of oneself, and you never knew if they were deceiving you, or if there was some truth to what they show. It seemed the amount of abnormalities within this one home was everlasting, yet ever-changing, and ever-growing.
Yet, most importantly of all, it always seemed, that despite the anomaly that was this house, the most unsettling thing about it were the ones dwelling inside.
