Summary
Scenes from my take on a human/modern/our world AU. Set circa 1990's-early 2000's. Two ruthless businessmen try to exploit each other, accidentally catch feelings, and don't really do anything about it because they think existing together in a continuous liminal space is safer.
This fic is me making up two fucked up people and smashing them together in a petri dish and watching what kind of mold they grow.
I generally enjoy insufferable and/or flawed characters finding something beautiful in each other, so this fic is about that too.

By a twist of fate and the Pale probably, the Furies are excavated from Harry's mind and into the real world whilst him and Kim are on a work-adjacent "island getaway" with no means to contact the shore. Harry himself is very much gone from the mortal plane, and it's up to Kim and the constantly clashing Skills to figure out how exactly to get everything back as it was. If such a thing is even possible. How can one come back from such a worldview bending trip as this one?
Well, it does help if your companions are DTF.
Is this just an excuse to get the Furies and Kim to fuck? Yes. Did some more serious stuff sneak in while writing the scenes between the smut? Also yes. Tends to happen with Disco Elysium as the source material, I hope you enjoy!

Harry dreams of being the hanged man again.
This time he is already down from the tree, lying down in what's probably mud, but doesn't really feel like anything. The field autopsy has already started, already gone on long enough for Kim to have written down everything that a cursory investigation has revealed to him. But there's still that hole inside Harry. Kim will have to try to fish out the bullet.
Some time after Martinaise, Harry and Kim share a dream of Harry being in the place of the hanged man. It gets weirdly horny, they wake up and Harry remembers, Kim doesn't. It ultimately leads the two touch-starved detectives to the same obscure gay bar, and then...?
