Percy senses the blood before he sees it, the way he can sense water, seas and oceans.
It's only a matter of time before his powers leak out, and hurts someone.
Chiron talks to him, but it doesn't help. Chiron doesn't know what happened; apparently Annabeth isn't speaking to him, and Percy sure as hell isn't about to spread the fact that he has power over poison, blood and ichor around.
He even gets on Mr. D's nerves. The alcoholic god glares at him and says: "I could smite you. Turn your blood against you, your molecules to dust."
All Percy can think is, yeah, so can I.

“We can’t bring him. He’s a monster.” Annabeth said, putting her foot down and glaring at Tyson.
Tyson whimpered.
All the frustration and anger of seeing Tyson getting bullied all year at the mortal school and camp, and all the bullying Percy had been through just for sticking close to Tyson exploded and Percy saw red.
“He is not a monster.” Percy growled back, fed up. “Tyson is a being with thoughts and feelings, and just as deserving of respect as you and I. He’s never hurt anyone who hasn’t hurt me or him first. Considering how you’re treating him, dehumanizing him and calling him an it, gross and monster, I’m starting to wonder if you’re the real monster here, Annabeth.”

But this is still a vast improvement over the Dursleys.

Peter stared at the floor as he continued, his jaw tight. “It’s a weekend thing, so they’re going as a group. Together. Flash is driving them up … and, well, there’s no room for me.” Peter finished quietly, ears burning red.
Tony felt his blood pressure rise. Flash. Of course. And why should Peter feel embarrassed about being left out by that punk?
Tony bit back a sigh. He knew it must sting, regardless, to be left out. “I’ll take you, Roo.”
Peter froze, eyes snapping up to search Tony’s face. “You’ll take me?” He looked confused. “Mr. Stark, it’s all the way in Boston.”

Steve is lonely and has a shockingly low self-esteem, and Peter is determined to fix that at any cost. And Steve, well, he's pretty sure this is as close to parenthood as he's ever going to get.
