Summary
The truth is that Childe has a secret. The truth is that Childe doesn’t remember much of his time in Liyue. He remembers the boring, seemingly endless paperwork, remembers collecting the sigils of permission that became a crucial part of his plan, remembers the fall of the Geo Archon at the Rite of Descension, summoning the Overlord of Vortex, fighting Lumine at the Golden House, and at the end of it all, finding out that he had been one-upped by Signora, the eighth harbinger.
What he doesn’t remember, however, is everything outside of that. He doesn’t remember how he spent his leisure time in Liyue, what he had for lunch and dinner, how the first Lantern Rite he experienced was like. There are gaps in his memories that he doesn’t know how to fill, periods in his stay in Liyue that feel like endless, dark pits. He had never felt the need to fill the gaps, because all he needs to know is that he had played his part excellently and met all the Geo Archon’s expectations.
But after seeing how concerned the travelling duo looked... he supposes his business trip to Liyue would be a good chance as any to start piecing them together.
And perhaps he could start with this mysterious man named Zhongli.

Dazai’s expression shifted, his eyes scanning over him with something almost… disappointed. “Where’s your collar? Your hat?”
The words sent an unexpected chill down Chuuya’s spine. 'Why was he asking that? Why did he sound so—so genuinely bothered?'

Last chance to back out, Shuichi supposes. He takes a breath, feels the butterflies flutter in his chest, and then releases it all at once through his teeth. Lifts a hand to knock, falters, then tightens his fist. He raps three times.
Ouma’s voice is muffled through the door. “Entrez!”
Shuichi does so, turning the knob and pushing in. Ouma’s room is identical to his own, but messier, with papers strewn about the floor and the bedsheets undone. Ouma himself is seated under the window with a breakfast tray at his feet, the food on it untouched save for the bowl of rice pudding, which has spilled over. Ouma has drawn a smiley face in it. He’s leaned back against the wall and looking bored, but when his eyes meet Shuichi’s, they widen slightly.
Then they return to their prior position, a mask of cool neutrality settling over his features. “Oh. It’s you.”

After the game, Shuichi pours his heart out to the boy he failed.

Summary
Zhongli was the name of the man that fans of the novel Jade Winds of Aster wished they could hate, and Ajax was one of them. despite his grumbling, he had been looking forward to (on the edge of his seat waiting for) the spin-off series Tale of Purple, which contained Zhongli's backstory never told in the main series.
unfortunately, he died before he got to read a single page of it.
Ajax's head spun at the realization - he had somehow transmigrated into his favourite novel, where he would be able to see and even talk to... his favourite character. who just happened to be the biggest villain in the story.
unfortunately, his role was to be the first one to die in the story. well, since this was a different world, he wouldn't mind hearing a different story this time.
